The Madison County Arkansas Citizen endorses Connie Collins for coroner.

It was brought to the attention of the Quorum Court by a citizen who spoke up at the last Quorum Court meeting that there is no office within the county for the coroner that Douglas Rabold has been using his own personal funeral home services building for coroner duties for the last 8 years and has made no attempt to establish a coroner's office within the county. This is a dereliction of duty on his part. There is no chain of custody when bodies from crime scenes are held at a funeral home and there needs to be. Connie Collins is pushing for there to be an established location for the coroner within our county. Maybe once the sheriff's department relocates their offices to the new jail their current office location could become a coroner's office. For these reasons we endorse Connie Collins for coroner.

The Madison County Arkansas Citizen endorses Ronnie Boyd for Sheriff.

Ok folks, let's be honest here, there is no real great pick for sheriff in this race, all 3 men have things against them that disqualifies them from being a good sheriff, given the limited options, Boyd is regrettably the most viable option.

Chuck Melton does not present himself as a man of authority, he is to soft spoken and lacks the confidence of someone who should command respect in the county sheriff's department. He also had several allegations against him of improper conduct with females during traffic stops.

Wes Walters does a better job of speaking than Chuck Melton but gives off a Barney Fife vibe. The story of him holding an employee and her child "hostage" inside his insurance off does not sit right with us and is not a good example for someone who is to be a law enforcement leader.

Now to Ronnie Boyd. We need only say one name, Taylor Barksdale. This is a huge stain on his record, and one we will not forget and in reality it should disqualify him to be re-elected. That being said, he is in the process of staffing the jail and getting it up and running and he has a vision and a plan for it that he has stated well. For that reason we choose to endorse him.

Now a message to Ronnie Boyd, should you be re-elected, it has been reported that you told former officer Hassell to let things cool down for a year and you would hire him back. We would consider this dereliction of duty on your part and should you do this we will make it a point next election cycle to put a better candidate than these other two in the race to replace you.

The Madison County Arkansas Citizen is endorsing JR Scott for County Judge of Madison County.

After hearing him speak several different times at different events, we believe he will truly run the county based on the desires of the citizens of this great county and he will do what is best for us. He is young and may not have the same level of experience as his opponents but we believe that is to his benefit as we believe he desires to listen to the people and do what they want. We see a bright future for our county with JR Scott at the wheel.

We do not endorse Larry Garrett or Ted Walker. They are both upstanding men but we feel not the best fit for our county at this time.

While some have spoke that Larry has accomplished a lot concerning roads and bridges in the county, others have also seen there roads eroding and degrading under his leadership. Larry also knew about the IDA several months before it became public knowledge but did not do anything to notify the citizens of it. Our public officials should be wise enough to smell a wolf and deal with it. But it took our diligence to discover and intervene to save our county. We need people in office who can be trusted to either operate without supervision or be trusted to inform and involve the public with situations such as the IDA before they invade and take away our sovereignty. Garrett didn't do this. He not only didn't notice the threat but he didn't alert the regular populace of such threat.

Ted Walker would be our number 2 pick in this race but we have a few things against him. While JR Scott has been showing up at the Quorum Court meetings and planning board meetings, Ted Walker has not. We believe that if the position of county judge is something he truly is seeking then he should be showing up at these meetings ahead of his hopeful time in office. While he does have a very long military career, we believe that is not the best fit for our county at this time, especially Ron Maloney trying to bring a military drone testing facility to our county.

The Madison County Arkansas Citizen endorses Bryan King for Senate.

Mr King has a longstanding track record of fighting big money trying to take over rural citizens in Northwest Arkansas counties. Mr King sent his wife to represent him at the first town hall meeting with Ron Maloney and then he himself showed up the second night and actually confronted Ron Maloney before the meeting. He is also against the mega prison that they are trying to build in Franklin County. He truly represents the rural people of our part of Northwest Arkansas.

We do not endorse Bobby Ballinger for senate. Bobby is sponsored and funded by some of the very same organizations that sent Ron Maloney to our County trying to bring their big city life to our rural farming area. Bobby tries to paint himself as a farmer but if you've caught some of his ads he has the cleanest looking farm clothes we've ever seen. He is a hobby farmer at best. We have seen comments in other groups where Democrats are even changing their party affiliation just so they can vote for Bryan King because they recognize that Bobby Ballinger is bad for us. He is in the pocket of the governor and the big money bigwigs in Bentonville Fayetteville and Little Rock.

Could this(the posting of a picture of a yes vote on a ballot measure by an elected official) be considered an attempt to influence an election? Trying to get citizens take something that is currently a choice and make it involuntary. How many people who normally choose to opt out of paying the dues well then just pay them involuntarily because they were automatically slapped on their tax bill and its too much of a pain to try to remove them when you're already at the courthouse to pay them.

Here is a suggestion, how about when people from Japton come in to pay their taxes we just ask them then "Would you like to pay your fire department dues now?"

The ONLY way I, the person who posts for the group of citizens who gather the info for this page, would EVER consider revealing my identity is IF I was running for a JP position or some other office in the county, and y'all know that ain't happening for at least 2 more years, so you might as well forget about it.

As if you didn't have enough reasons to vote for Bryan King , SHS who signed off on the IDA bill is endorsing Ballinger. A NO vote on the IDA means a no vote for Ballinger Jr.
