The repair to Oak Lane's water tower and water lines will begin tomorrow morning (Tuesday, June 16). We anticipate not having water for about two weeks. We are still available if you need us! Please see the contact information below! We will post an update when we are back in the office during regular summer hours! 🩺 School Nurse Spotlight: Ashley Hill | Helena Elementary School & Oak Lane Elementary

Serving both Helena Elementary and Oak Lane Elementary, Ashley Hill supports students across multiple campuses with care, dedication, and a deep commitment to their success. She works to identify and remove health barriers that may impact learning, helping students stay focused, engaged, and ready for the classroom.

Ashley builds meaningful connections with students and encourages lifelong healthy habits, promoting both physical well-being and a positive mindset. Her role goes far beyond day-to-day care, helping shape an environment where students feel supported and empowered.

“My favorite thing about this job is getting to know the kids and forming relationships with them. I love figuring out health barriers that impact their learning career and trying to make things better so they can concentrate and interact in class. The ability to mentor lifelong healthy habits and a positive mindset is also a truly rewarding experience. This job goes far beyond boo-boos, Band-Aids, and bumped heads.”

⭐ Before & After School Care Spotlight ⭐

Today we are recognizing Mitzi Short for her dedication and heart for serving students through PCS Before & After School Care at Oak Lane Elementary!

Mitzi has worked in the Person County Schools Before & After School program for more than 16 years and says she has known since childhood that she wanted to make a difference in the lives of children. Her passion for caring for and supporting students has remained strong throughout her career.

Mitzi shares that she truly loves what she does and values the opportunity to positively impact students each day.

⭐ Before & After School Care Spotlight ⭐

Today we are recognizing Stella Carver for her years of dedication to students and families through PCS Before & After School Care at Oak Lane Elementary!

Stella began working with the Person County Schools Before & After School program in October 2014 and has faithfully served students for the past 11 years. She shares that her passion for caring for children began as a teenager while helping care for her nieces and nephews.

Although she never imagined she would work in childcare for so many years, Stella has continued to make a positive difference in the lives of students through her care and commitment.

As we close out May Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible creativity, strength, and resilience shown by our students across Person County Schools!

Earlier this month, we had the honor of recognizing our district winners for the PCS Mental Health Awareness Art Contest, themed “Radiate Resilience.” Their artwork beautifully reflected hope, perseverance, kindness, healing, and the importance of mental wellness.

Today, we are excited to celebrate ALL of our school winners by grade level and school! These students did an amazing job using their creativity and artistic talents to shine a light on mental health awareness and resilience through challenges.
Thank you to every student who participated, every staff member who supported this contest, and every school that encouraged students to share their voices through art. The submissions were inspiring, meaningful, and a reminder that creativity can be a powerful way to express emotions, build connection, and spread hope.
