Labor Day Holiday Reminder
Person County Schools will be closed for students and staff on Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day.
School will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

🐾💚 WE’RE GROWING AT OAK LANE! 💚🐾

We are so proud to celebrate the hard work of our students, teachers, staff, families, and entire Cougar community! Our 2025–26 accountability results show that Oak Lane continues to move forward! 📈

Our School Performance Score increased to 67-C, and our Growth Score reached 82.6 — meeting expected growth! Every point represents hard work, dedication, strong instruction, and a community committed to helping our students succeed.

September is "School Attendance Awareness Month"

Attendance Awareness Month is a national campaign focused on reducing chronic absenteeism and reminding us that every school day matters. This year, we are excited to celebrate with our Mr. Potato Head Classroom Attendance Challenge! 🥔🏆

Each classroom teacher will receive a Mr. Potato Head and a set of parts. Each week, classes that achieve 95% attendance or higher will earn one or two new parts to add to their Mr. Potato Head.

In addition, qualifying classes will receive:

🏆 The Attendance Trophy to proudly display in their classroom for the following week.
🥔 A special visit from Mr. Potato Head.
🎉 A special class treat.
👀 The excitement of watching their Mr. Potato Head grow throughout the month!

Our goal is to make attendance fun while helping our students understand the importance of showing up, being on time, and being ready to learn every day.

Parent's help us make September a month filled with great attendance, friendly competition, and lots of Mr. Potato Head fun by sending your child(ren) to school eeryday!

Oh and wait there’s more…

This challenge isn’t just for our students it’s for our teachers too!

We’re challenging our teachers to lead by example and see who can achieve excellent attendance throughout the challenge. The teacher with the best attendance will earn special recognition and, of course, the honor of holding the Teacher Attendance Trophy!

Students, teachers it’s time to show up, stay consistent, and bring your A-game! The attendance challenge begins September 1st!!!

A special thank you to the Person High School JROTC cadets for visiting our 5th grade student flag leaders and teaching them how to properly fold and raise our school flag.

We appreciate you taking the time to model leadership, responsibility, pride, and respect for our school. Our students enjoyed learning from you and are excited to carry on this important tradition! 💚

Apparently, our administrative assistant, Mrs. Salvitti thought she could simply “cancel” her birthday on the school Google Calendar and we would all just move on like nothing happened. 😂

Nice try, Mrs Salvitti. 😏

Today, we made it our mission to celebrate her all day long—with everything EXCEPT a birthday balloon, of course! 🎈🤣 Because when someone does as much for our school family as Mrs. Salvitti does, there is absolutely no hiding from the love and appreciation!

Happy “NOT” Birthday, Mrs. Salvitti! 💚🤍🎂

And just for the record… birthdays cannot be canceled by deleting them from Google Calendar. 😂
