A lot has been going on!

Changes are taking place within the local party. A meeting called by the County's Executive Committee is taking place tomorrow in lieu of our regular meeting. The work of the local Party continues with discussion on leadership, candidates and more.

We are updating our email list and ask all those interested in getting the latest news and announcements to please send a message to our FB admins with your name, address, and email address.

Our website will be updated too. It is time to get on to the business of the party and supporting our candidates as we approach November.

Our monthly meetings will continue to be on the third Thursday of every month at 6:30 PM at La Piazza in Roxboro. Our next meeting is June 18th.

Congressman Brad Knott had a blistering response on Thursday to Fairfax VA Prosecutor Steve Descano. Knott is making NC proud. Descano is under investigation by the DOJ.

Things got heated between Congressman Brad Knott and Steve Descano during Thursday's hearing on sanctuary policies. "You're a coward," Knott said to Descano.

To Our Person County Republicans: A SPECIAL MEETING IN MAY

We will be having a PCGOP Executive Committee meeting for all PCGOP Executive Committee members on May 21st, Thursday at 6:30 PM. The location will be at LaPiazza Restaurant. This is a special meeting.

Our normal monthly meetings will resume again on June 18th. We welcome those who wish to listen to the discussion. However only those on the Executive Committee can vote. Agenda items include:

Officer(s) positions
NCGOP State Convention delegates
Updating current POO as outlined by NCGOP
Updating PCGOP Website
Updates to PCGOP FB
Candidate support

Update on PCGOP State Arbitration:

The NCGOP has voided all actions done by Chair Kathy Lawrence during her PCGOP Convention on March 7th. The Executive Committee, which she had removed, has been reinstated by the state NCGOP. Changes made to the website and other social media by Ms. Lawrence due to the Convention she held will need to be revised. Any precinct appointees and Executive Board Appointees by Chair Lawrence made during her PCGOP Convention are void. Ms. Lawrence will remain as Chair per the state NCGOP ruling. However, this does not negate any future actions by the Executive Committee to seek her removal. (Her attempted removal by the Executive Committee allowed for an 8 day notice, the NCGOP Plan of Organization (POO) stated 10 days was needed for advance notice.)

The reinstated Executive Committee has called for a meeting within the next 10 days scheduled for Thursday, May 21st at 6:30 PM at La Piazza in downtown Roxboro. Ms. Lawrence, officers and all Executive Committee members have been served with an email and a meeting agenda. Over 1/3 of the PCGOP Executive Committee signed the email for this scheduled meeting.

All delegates that were chosen during the 2 separate PCGOP March Conventions are recognized by the state and may attend the state Convention in June. The PCGOP per the state will follow its 2025 County POO. Any inconsistencies found within the PCGOP will be subject to review using the NCGOP State POO.

Announcement from the Person County Republicans:

The Person County GOP (PCGOP) meets every 3rd Thursday of the month at La Piazza, we welcome all county Republicans and visiting Republicans to attend.

We had our monthly meeting last night to inform those in attendance that we are scheduled to be part of an NC State Republican Arbitration to determine how best to move forward in our county as an organization.

During the past 9 months former leadership within the local Party has been questioned and members of our county’s Executive Committee followed protocols to remedy the situation. Last night's meeting, with Jimmie Whitfield as Chair, afforded an explanation of what had taken place and the process on Tuesday for Arbitration.

We look forward to a fair process on Tuesday and rebuilding the party due to the dereliction of duties by the former Chair.

RE: First Quarter Report

Fellow Republicans,

The first three months of 2026 have been a busy time for your North Carolina Republican Party. Already this month, we held statewide primary elections, county conventions, and even hosted our Vice President for a visit!

In January, Republicans broke through and surpassed Democrats in statewide voter registration! This is a momentous achievement a decade in the making. We couldn’t have done this without the help of our volunteers, county and district leaders, and everyone reading this email. The fight isn’t over — but this is a great accomplishment to celebrate.

In addition to the statewide flip, several counties have also moved into the GOP column this year including the home of NC Democrat Chair Anderson Clayton in Person County.

For the March 3 primary, Early Voting and Election Day went smoothly, with the NCGOP and RNC joining together to man the election integrity war room to respond to concerns and questions.

Critically, we successfully beat back all of the counterfeit candidates who attempted to defeat incumbent Republicans in primaries. These candidates made clear they did not subscribe to the Republican platform or espouse conservative values, and these disingenuous bad actors were all defeated. Additionally, the Central Committee has approved a legislative request to strengthen the requirements to run as a Republican in primaries moving forward.

Counties across our state successfully held their conventions this month. Vice-Chair Gay Dillard and I enjoyed meeting with dedicated Republicans as we organize to fulfill our primary mission: electing Republicans and defeating Democrats. Anything that pulls us away from this task is a distraction, and we must not let such distractions detract from our number one job of electing our candidates.

We have increased the frequency of Go Red trainings, a compliment to our hard-working staff who have all participated in these sessions to assist you. I’m also pleased to announce Zach Almond, who many of you know, has joined our team as our new Executive Director.

Finally, I want to take a moment to honor the life of the late Rep. Mike Clampitt, who served our state as a first responder for decades before representing western NC in the NC House of Representatives. Rep. Clampitt worked tirelessly even in the face of health issues to work for his constituents and we will miss him in the General Assembly.

Thank you all for your hard work and I look forward to seeing you at District Conventions in April and State Convention in June. Registration is open now!
