Recycling & Garbage Access Update

Due to ongoing misuse of the Town’s recycling and garbage facilities, the Town of Oma is following suit with other local municipalities and changing access to the recycling building.

Beginning August 13, 2026, residents will have access to the recycling building on Saturdays from 10:30 AM–12:30 PM, when the attendant is present. 24/7 access will no longer be available.

Unfortunately, this change is necessary due to repeated improper and unsafe disposal of waste.

This goes beyond couches and mattresses being left in the metal pile. Town employees are being unnecessarily exposed to hazardous and unsanitary materials, including soiled adult disposable briefs and uncapped insulin needles improperly placed in recycling bins.

We understand that most residents use these facilities appropriately, and we appreciate those who do. However, the actions of a few create unnecessary safety concerns for the employees responsible for maintaining the facilities.

For your reference, we’ve included the recycling information that was provided with your property tax statement last winter. Attendant hours and locations are listed at the bottom of the page.

Keep Oma beautiful. Start by disposing of your waste properly.

Thursday, July 2: County Clerk, Treasurer, Register of Deeds, UW-Extension, Veterans Services, Zoning, and Public Health offices close at 11:30 AM. All other offices will be open until 4:00 pm.

Friday, July 3: ALL COUNTY BUILDINGS, INCLUDING THE COURTHOUSE WILL BE CLOSED.
