‼️‼️‼️From MDOT

🧊 Nearly invisible black ice will likely form on our Mississippi roadways south of the U.S. 84 corridor tonight (1/21/25), creating extremely hazardous driving conditions across all our southern counties.

⚠️ MDOT crews have been working relentlessly to plow and treat southern roads today, but tonight’s low temperatures will refreeze treated bridges and render de-icing agents ineffective. ⚠️

Please only drive in affected areas if it's an emergency, and don’t be fooled—what looks clear could be ice!

⚠️Winter Storm Update⚠️

❄️ The latest forecast from the National Weather Service has the winter storm moving slightly south compared to earlier this morning. The snow will begin after midnight and continue through much of the day Tuesday (1/21/25). South Mississippi is still expected to get the highest amounts with up to 4" of snow.

‼️We encourage everyone to stay off the roads once the snow starts to fall as roads will become dangerous.

Tonight, East Jackson County fire crews responded to a residential fire in the Helena community, located off Presley Road. Upon arrival, the home was fully engulfed, and a defensive attack was employed to extinguish the fire. Crews worked diligently throughout the cold night without sustaining any injuries to civilians or any fire personnel.
Great job, East Jackson County Fire.

Tuesday night East Jackson County was invited to a First Responder appreciation dinner at Three Rivers Assembly of God. We absolutely love going and getting to visit with the church members and other local fire responders every year. Thank you so much Three Rivers Assembly of God for having us!

East Jackson County would like to thank everyone who came out and helped us with Operation Christmas. It was a success and we will be able to give back the joy of Christmas to at least a dozen children. We couldn’t have done this without the support of such an amazing community. Thank you!
