I have had the pleasure of working with water quality testing volunteer Jim Brancel for over 17 years! Jim is a dedicated Iron County Lake Champion. Jim has been taking water quality on Spider Lake in Mercer since 1998! Jim has served as Lake Association President, served on their board, and has been a great advocate for Spider Lake and Iron County Lakes. Last week at the WI Lakes and Rivers Convention held in Stevens Point, Jim was awarded a Lake Stewardship Award for his dedication to lakes. This is a well-deserved award! I am proud of Jim Brancel and his dedication to Iron County Lakes! Thanks for all your hard work Jim!

Please give Molly Russell a warm welcome! Molly joins the Land & Water Conservation Department as our NEW Conservation Specialist! Here's a little more about Molly:

"Hi, I’m Molly! I recently graduated from the University of Michigan with my Master of Public Policy and Master of Science in Ecosystem Science and Management. While at U-M, I spent a lot of my time co-leading the development of a stewardship plan for a lake basin prairie fen. I also worked in the U-M Center for Sustainable Systems, was President of the Society of Wetland Scientists Student Chapter, and spent summers working with Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council and Oneida County Land & Water. I’m super passionate about freshwater ecosystems, the Northwoods, and our native plant communities, and am so excited to get to know Iron County! In my free time, I enjoy camping, hiking, fly fishing, painting, reading, and playing with my dog, Oliver."

Welcome to Iron County Molly!
