BOIL ADVISORY
Village of Bay View & Heywood from Bardshar Rd to 5116 Heywood - There was a water main break on SR6. Water pressure is currently being restored. There is a boil advisory issued until 3:00 pm Saturday (8/15). A boil advisory means you should vigorously boil your water 1 to 2 minutes before consumption. Out of precaution, we are issuing a boil advisory.

Main Break - Bay View water customers:

Crews are currently in the process of repairing a large water main break on a main that services Bay View. Customers may observe low to no water pressure for several hours. We will followup with an update and additional details regarding the boil advisory that will be issued for the affected customers once pressure is restored.

⚠️ Attention - Erie County's east Huron water customers: If you are an Erie County DOES water customer (not the City of Huron's) and live between Bald Eagle Dr. to N. Poorman Rd. along US 6, Monday morning at 8 AM you will begin to experience lower water pressure for approximately 4 hours. ⚠️

🔶️ Construction crews will be conducting work near our water booster station, requiring a brief pump shutdown. Drinking water will enter our system by gravity during the shutdown from the City of Huron's water tower, resulting in lower water pressures at your faucet. We do not expect anyone to experience a total loss of service but pressures will be lower than usual for the 4 hour period. 🚰

FINAL UPDATE: To affected Perkins area water customers - A widespread boil advisory was issued during the evening of 5/21. Erie County Water Department has completed all necessary bacterial sampling. No bacterial contamination was present in any of the samples. The Erie County Water Department is now lifting the boil advisory as of 5/23/26 8:45 AM. There is no longer a need to boil your water prior to consumption.

UPDATE 5/22/26 5:00 PM:
We will provide another update tomorrow morning (4/23) at 8:45 AM once the bacterial sampling results can be observed and reported, whether the boil advisory is then to be lifted or remain in place.

5/22/26 8:00 AM:
After further investigation, we have confirmed the precautionary boil advisory will affect the area highlighted in red. The boil advisory will remain in effect until all necessary bacterial sampling has been completed and all samples test negative for bacterial contamination. The bacterial testing process will take a minimum of 24 hours.

Perkins Township - There is a water main break on Columbus Ave. between Perkins Ave and Strub Rd. There are many customers outside that area that will experience low water pressure. Once water service is restored, there will be at least a 24 hour boil advisory. A boil advisory means you should vigorously boil your water 1 to 2 minutes before consumption. Crews have isolated the break and are beginning excavation to repair the break. An update will follow. Out of precaution, we are issuing a boil advisory for the area highlighted in red.

TEMPORARY WATER USE ADVISORY

Due to the sub-freezing temperatures and ICE build up around the water intake, the Erie County Water Department has issued a TEMPORARY WATER USE ADVISORY!

Please REDUCE non-essential water use to help manage the demand on the system.

Crews have been working around the clock and throughout the weekend to restore normal operations.

The water is safe for consumption and there have been no treatment issues. The issue is getting enough water into the plant due to ice build up.
