This week, we have been recognizing and celebrating Person-Centered Thinking—an approach that helps ensure people with disabilities are at the heart of every decision that affects their lives.
Person-Centered Thinking focuses on understanding what is important to a person, as well as what is important for them. It encourages us to listen, learn, and work alongside individuals to support their goals, preferences, strengths, and dreams. Rather than focusing solely on services or programs, Person-Centered Thinking helps create supports that reflect each person's unique choices and desired outcomes.
Throughout the week, our staff have been participating in learning opportunities and discussions to deepen their understanding of Person-Centered Thinking and how it can be applied in everyday interactions. By continuing to build these skills, we strengthen our commitment to promoting choice, independence, dignity, and meaningful community involvement for the people we support.
We are proud to celebrate this important approach and the positive difference it makes in helping individuals live lives that are truly their own.
