Congratulations to Sebastian Olivo on officially joining the South Dakota Army National Guard!

Sebastian enlisted as a 74D – Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Specialist, taking on a critical role in protecting and defending against hazardous threats.

Joshua has officially enlisted in the South Dakota Army National Guard as a 92G – Culinary Specialist 🍳

He secured:
💰 GI Bill – extra money for college
🎓 Split Training Option (STO)

👉 What does Split Training mean?
Joshua will head to Basic Training this summer, then come back home to finish his senior year of high school. After graduation, he’ll ship back out to complete his job training (AIT) as a Culinary Specialist.

This means he’s getting a head start on his military career without missing out on his senior year 🙌

Big moves early—setting himself up for success with experience, education benefits, and a career path right out of high school.

Chief Warrant Officer 2 Ben English, a LUH-72 Lakota pilot with Bravo Company, 1/112th Aviation Battalion, Security and Support, flies missions that directly support South Dakota communities.

“It’s rewarding to be part of this mission because it allows me to actively contribute to the community,” English said. “It feels good to serve as a positive member of society.”

English said each mission is different and requires aircrews to adapt while working closely with civilian partners to locate missing or stranded individuals and support law enforcement.

Through year-round training and strong partnerships, South Dakota Army National Guard aviators remain ready to respond when their neighbors need help—at home and abroad.
