Tonight was a great night not only holding our push in ceremony but having a chance to recognize 2 of our probationary firefighters. They have completed all necessary requirements to be full members. Congratulations firefighters Christina Guthrie and Travis Wipf. New Ladder 1 is officially in service. 🔥🚒

Join us this evening at the North Fire Station- 1357 Dakota Ave N. at 6pm. We will have our push-in dedication ceremony for our new Ladder truck. Come by see the truck, check out the station and get a chance to meet and talk with some of your firefighters. This is a public event and all are welcome to attend.

This Friday the 8th at 6pm the Huron Fire Department will be having a push in ceremony for our new Ladder truck at the North Station, 1357 Dakota Ave N. This is open to the public and all are welcome to attend. Please feel free to come by and see the trucks, the station or meet some of your firefighters serving our city.

The push-in tradition dates back to the early days of the fire service, when firefighters had to manually return their horse-drawn apparatus to the station after a call. Today, we honor that tradition not out of necessity—but out of respect. Respect for those who came before us, and for the legacy we continue to carry forward.

This morning the Huron Fire Department responded to a reported structure. Engine 2 arrived to find a small fire inside the residence. The fire was under control quickly by first arriving units. Less than a week after receiving our new Ladder truck it responded and setup for roof access. Members operated off the ladder for ventilation and overhaul work. Strong work this morning with quick response and aggressive mindsets getting to the fire quickly. Thanks to the Cavour FD for responding mutual aid, Huron PD and Beadle County Sheriffs Office for traffic control, and Northwestern Energy for securing utilities.

HFD along with Huron Ambulance attended Career Day at the Middle School. 6th graders were able to ask questions about emergency services and what it takes to become a Firefighter and EMT.
