In the Loop – 6/8/2026
One of my most important responsibilities as your mayor is to address today's needs while planning for Hurricane's future. That means tackling challenges before they become crises and listening to the people who call our city home.
I invite you to attend a public hearing on June 18 at 6:00 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center to discuss a proposed increase in the city's drainage fee from $4 to $11 per month. Our drainage system has gone many years without needed improvements, and as our city has grown, so have the challenges. In addition, Hurricane is now required by the Utah Division of Water Quality to implement MS4 storm water regulations, creating additional responsibilities and costs. The proposed increase will help address these long-term infrastructure needs, and we'll explain the details and answer your questions.
You can also join my monthly KDXU radio discussion on June 18 at 9:00 a.m. It's an opportunity to hear updates on city issues and ask questions online.
On June 20 at 8:00 a.m., I'll be at the pickleball courts by the Community Center for my monthly activity with residents. Whether you want to play or simply visit, I hope you'll stop by. These informal conversations help me hear directly from the people I serve.
I believe my place is among the people of Hurricane. I continue to visit neighborhoods and areas where residents have concerns because seeing issues firsthand helps me better understand what needs to be done. The best decisions come from listening to our community.
Please stay engaged by tuning in to KDXU, attending the public hearing, or joining me on June 20. Together, through open communication and involvement, we can continue making Hurricane a great place to live.
If you have questions or concerns, contact the City Office at 435-635-2811, Ext. 111, and you will be directed to the appropriate staff member, City Council member, or to me.
