We're so grateful to Cross Lanes Baptist Church for donating so many backpacks for children entering foster care in our area!

When a child comes into foster care, they often arrive with very little of their own. These backpacks change that first day. Each one is packed for a specific age range with the essentials a kid needs right away, plus a few things that are just theirs, like hygiene items, a coloring book, and a stuffed animal to hold onto.

To everyone at Cross Lanes Baptist who shopped, packed, and dropped these off: thank you. These kids are going to love them. 💙

🎄 Help Make Christmas Brighter for a Teen! 🎁

This year, Mission West Virginia is coordinating Christmas gifts for more youth than ever, and we need your help to make holiday wishes come true!

For $100, you can sponsor a teen in foster or kinship care and remind them that they are seen, loved, and worth celebrating.

Here's how to sponsor a teen:
🎄 Sign Up: Visit our website and complete the Shop for a Teen sponsorship form.
🎄 Get Your Wish List: A Mission WV staff member will email you a teen's Christmas wish list.
🎄 Shop: Purchase gifts and essentials from your teen's wish list.
🎄 Deliver Your Gifts: Drop off or ship your unwrapped gifts to the Mission WV office by December 4.

🎁 Prefer to donate instead? You can also make a monetary donation and let our staff do the shopping for you!

We couldn't make Christmas special for these youth without the generosity of community members like you. Thank you for helping us spread a little extra joy this season!

In our Bridge Program postsecondary planning is more than a conversation, it’s bringing action plans to life. Whether students choose the work force, technical training, college, or military, our Mentors support them to turn ideas into stable futures.

Last week, Mission West Virginia stood among honorees from across the country as a 2026 Angel in Adoption, an honor we don't take lightly.

The award comes from the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, nominated by Congresswoman Carol Miller. Executive Director Kelly Thompson and Frameworks Director Rachel Kinder traveled to Washington, D.C. to accept it on behalf of our team.

While there, they had opportunities to sit down with staff from the offices of Congresswoman Miller, Senator Shelley Moore Capito, and Senator Jim Justice to talk about what West Virginia's children and families need, and what it will take to meet those needs. We're grateful for their time and attention.

Thank you to Congresswoman Miller for the nomination, and to CCAI for the recognition and for giving the Angels a seat at the table.

Two people accepted this award, but it belongs to the whole Mission WV team and to the partners who do this work with us every day. Their commitment to permanency for West Virginia's kids is why we were in that room.

Student attendance, behavior, and grades continue to improve when our Bridge Program can help a child feel connected to their schools. We're thrilled to share that 31,019 votes were cast for Mission West Virginia through Target Circle. The result is a $4,169.72 grant for the work we do with children and families across the state!

Your votes help us connect foster and adoptive parents with the kids who need them, stand behind the relatives raising children they love, and give teens the tools to build healthy futures.
