Mission West Virginia Inc

Mission West Virginia Inc Mission West Virginia is leading a statewide effort to promote positive futures for all kids in WV.

Mission West Virginia works throughout the state to help bring partners together to do what West Virginians do best - help each other with unique, local solutions to societal problems. We envision within West Virginia:

Strong communities in which the disadvantaged and disenfranchised are served adequately through the collaborative efforts of government, faith communities, community based groups,

and other entities by setting differences aside and uniting around a common mission. Faith communities and non-profit organizations, energized, equipped and actively participating in fulfilling their mission and positively impacting their local communities. Mission West Virginia recognized as a catalyst and a model for innovative community asset building and partnership development. DISCLAIMER:

As Internet crimes against children continue to rise, Mission WV is taking action through education and prevention.

This week, Mission West Virginia partnered with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, along with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, to present Behind the Screen: Clicks, Consequences & Prevention—an in-depth training focused on Internet Crimes Against Children and the evolving threats facing youth online today.

We were honored to host experts Whitney Barnhart, FBI Charleston Resident Agency, Sergeant J.M. Burns, Kanawha County Sheriff's Office, Corporal Erica Schoolcraft and Sergeant Rachel Blankenship, WV State Police, Aya Sophie Nassif, National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and Dr. Jim Harris, Marshall University.

Participants gained insight to the dark world of online predators and received actionable tools to help youth with both prevention and response to threats.

The conversation continues throughout June, Internet Safety Month, with our (free) webinar series on online safety, sextortion prevention, and digital citizenship featuring ENDTab and sponsored by WV FRIS.

Our very own Cherie Collins, Lead Data Systems Coordinator for the THINK program, graduated from Leadership Putnam this week.

The program provided valuable learning opportunities, incredible networking, and exposure to the many people and organizations working to strengthen our community. As a nonprofit, we don't always get a chance to be involved in those areas, so this was extra meaningful. We are grateful to the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce for hosting this outstanding leadership development program and highly recommend it to anyone looking to grow their connections and community impact.

Congrats, Cherie!

We believe our work is best told by those on the front lines and by the young people we serve. That’s why we were excited to welcome the West Virginia First Foundation to Clay County High School for a site visit to see the Bridge program in action.

School staff shared how the partnership with Bridge mentors supports students every day. The team also met two incredible students who spoke about how the program helped them not only improve attendance and grades but also build a clear vision for what comes next.

We’re grateful for the West Virginia First Foundation’s support and their willingness to see this work firsthand. When the right supports are in place, students don’t just get by. They realize what they’re capable of.
