‼️ Attention, Hurricane Residents ‼️

As we are about to begin another school year, I would like to remind everyone to please be mindful of our children and slow down in and around our school zones.

Our officers will be actively patrolling school zones throughout the school year to help keep our students, parents, teachers, and staff safe.

Please allow yourself a little extra time, watch for children crossing the road, obey posted speed limits, and stay alert-especially during drop-off and dismissal.

Let’s work together to make safety a priority and give our kids the safe start to the school year they deserve!

On Saturday, August 15th, the Hurricane Police Department hosted our annual Badges Battle at the Putnam County Bank Sports Complex at Bridge Park.

We would like to congratulate the Charleston Fire Department on 1st place against us. It was a tight game all the way to the end. The final score was 8-7 in the bottom of the 7th inning.

We look forward to hosting again next year. All proceeds from this tournament go to the Running 4 Heroes Campaign. We appreciate all who participate!

The Hurricane Police Department would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to Little Caesars for their annual Pizza Pizza Paws fundraiser, supporting K9 programs across the Tri-State area!

We are incredibly grateful that they continue to include the Hurricane Police Department and our K9 program in this great event each year. Your continued support means a lot to us and helps provide valuable resources for the K9s who serve our community!

The class will be held on Monday, June 29 and Tuesday, June 30, 2026. You must attend both days in order to receive your certification.

The Training Building is located behind the waste treatment plant at 465 Hodges Branch Road Hurricane WV 25526. Take exit 34 Hurricane off I-64. Turn out Hurricane Creek Road towards Walmart. Turn right onto Peach Ridge Road. Then turn right onto Hodges Branch Road. Go through the gate follow the road to the end. The Training Building is the very last building at the end of the road.

The Hurricane Police Department is asking residents to take a moment to check their property.

Earlier today, officers took a report of suspicious activity near the end of Conner Street (cul-de-sac area near the interstate). Two male subjects were observed walking into the tall w**ds and returning with two w**d eaters.

Officers have since made contact with the individuals, who admitted to knowing the items were stolen, but would not provide information on where the property was taken from. We believe the w**d eaters were stolen within the past 24-48 hours.

We are currently trying to locate the rightful owner(s) to return them and charge the offenders.

If you live in the area or nearby, please check to ensure your equipment is accounted for. If you believe one of these items belongs to you, please contact the Hurricane Police Department and be prepared to provide proof of ownership.
