Thank you, Putnam County, for re-electing me to represent District 21 for another two-year term. I’m eager to return to Charleston next week, where the legislature will hit the ground running to continue bringing good, high-paying jobs to West Virginia, improve educational outcomes, and advance policies that benefit our communities. I also want to recognize and appreciate my opponent for running a positive, issue-driven campaign.

I’m excited to keep working hard for our district!

🚨 GREAT NEWS: AEP has announced that the Meeks Mountain Trails will NOT be affected by their transmission line project. This is a big win for our community, and I want to thank everyone who came together and voiced their concerns in August. This outcome is only possible because you showed up, sent emails, made phone calls and more. Thank you! Let’s continue to stay engaged as new options are considered in 2025.

"It's nice to know that we are being listened to,” one trail user said.

Many residents from our county have reached out to my office over the last week with understandable concern regarding the AEP Transmission Line project that would negatively impact the operations of the Meeks Mountain Trails. I share the same concerns and have expressed them to AEP directly.

Below is a letter drafted by Delegate Kathie Hess Crouse, co-signed by fellow Putnam County Delegates Butler, Foster and myself urging AEP to consider alternative routes.

I strongly encourage our community to attend Appalachain Power's public meetings this week on Tuesday (4:30-7:30PM, Valley Park Conference Center) and Wednesday (4:30-7:30PM, Winfield Community Center) to share how the proposed route would affect us.

All of my conversations with AEP so far have indicated that they are more than willing to listen to our concerns and that these plans are by no means set in stone. I continue to have faith that we will come to a solution with all parties that will allow us to keep the trail system we love and have the upgraded infrastructure that our county will benefit from!

MORE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT NEWS! -> On Monday, I voted in favor of SB 4001, a pro-economic growth bill that has already attracted a significant investment into our state from Berkshire Hathaway Energy & Precision Castparts. They will break ground on a $500 million titanium aerospace manufacturing plant in Jackson County this winter that will provide up to 1,000 high-paying jobs in the coming years.

I was appointed today by Governor Justice to fill a vacancy in the House of Delegates in the 22nd District which is comprised of parts of Putnam, Lincoln, Logan and Boone Counties. This is an incredible honor and I am ready to get to work with the Governor and legislative leadership on day one to help make West Virginia the best place in the country to live, work, and raise a family in.

Delegate Zack Maynard has done a great job representing Putnam County in the legislature over the last six years with a 100% pro-life and pro-2A voting record. I'm honored to have his support and endorsement in my campaign for House of Delegates.

Jarred Cannon is a candidate for the West Virginia House of Delegates in Putnam County.

Did you know small businesses account for nearly 65% of all new jobs created in the U.S. every year? I'm proud to have the endorsement of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce - they know I'll be a voice for our small business owners and their employees in Charleston. It was great to join Mayor Scott Edwards, Delegate Kathie Crouse and others this week to welcome a new Par Mar Store to Hurricane.

MORE GREAT ECONOMIC NEWS FOR PUTNAM COUNTY!

Governor Justice has announced more details about PepsiCo's plan to invest over $30 million in West Virginia facilities before the end of this year. One of these sites is the new Frito-Lay distribution center being built right here in Scott Depot. The investment represents 185 high-paying jobs. Continuing to improve our infrastructure and making sure we leverage our available and shovel-ready build sites is critical to continuing to bring major manufacturers into our area!
