Fort Worth Police Officers Association

On June 13, 2020 Fort Worth Police Officer Matthew Brazeal was severely injured in the line of duty when he was intentionally struck by a fleeing vehicle traveling at highway speed. Officer Brazeal sustained life-threatening injuries and has undergone extensive surgeries over the past two days in order to stabilize his condition.

Officer Brazeal is a veteran of the United States Army, where he proudly served his country as an infantryman. He is a three year veteran of the Fort Worth Police Department and previously served the citizens of Parker County and Weatherford as a law enforcement officer. Officer Brazeal is a true American hero, who has dedicated his life to serving others.

Officer Brazeal has a remarkable family. It is heartbreaking that they cannot all be by his side as he battles through surgeries, due to COVID-19 restrictions. It is important now, more than ever that we show our law enforcement officers that we have their backs and that we support them.

Officer Brazeal is facing a very long road to recovery and many in our community have asked how to donate to assist him. Donations can be made to Assist the Officer Fort Worth in Officer Brazeal’s name at https://atofortworth.org/make-a-donation. Donations can also be made on this Facebook post using the donation link.

We ask that you please keep Officer Brazeal, his family, and all of his teammates in your thoughts and prayers. We also ask that you continue to pray for our city, our state, and our nation.

Assist The Officer - Fort Worth is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and donations may be tax deductible.

It's a lonely path we walk at times trying to steady on the line. Trying to maintain that balance is too much for some. I don't blame them. We stand, hand to God, and take an oath and with that comes a burden. The burden is abounding and it should weigh profoundly upon your shoulders. If it doesn't, you were never meant to be here.

Lonely still, we carry on. We know that, although this burden can only be understood by those who help bear it, the job must be done. If not, who will? We promised, did we not?

The imagery of this job is difficult to comprehend. If we make it to the end, we'll be carrying decades of memories we wish we didn't have. Things nobody needs to see. Precious lives from our community who were stolen on our watch. The guilt blooms with each one and, with each one, we grow a bit more weary. Somehow, we still have hope.

The hope we keep locked inside is safe and secure. Sometimes we take a peek to see if it's still there. The hope is that one day, when I'm called to help, I can make it there in time. That's all. We just need a chance. If we can get there and help, that person might go on to do great things.

This job isn't for everyone and that's understandable. It's an impossible job. The burden of trust clings to you like a bag of bricks as you try to navigate human emotion and instinct to find a resolution to conflict. It's a temporary resolution at that. Yet we try.

History is an incredible thing. We look back and see the perseverance of the human spirit in each generation. With each upheaval, we have examples of great men and women who found a path to make things work. They were problem solvers. They were communicators. They were absolutely restless in their devotion to that cause.

I'm proud to say I stand beside them every single day. Together we will get through this just like those who came before us. We have a chance to make our own History. Stay strong and remember: It's a lonely path, but you're not alone.

Stay safe.

To all of our members:

We understand that there may be concern right now about what could happen next while we all work to mitigate the spread of COVID19. We are working diligently to stay on top of the latest information so we can relay things in a timely manner should the need arise. With that in mind, your HPOA leadership reached out to TMPA today and spoke with Executive Director Kevin Lawrence.

Mr. Lawrence outlined the steps TMPA is taking to maintain open lines of communication with key leadership positions across Texas and the United States, including the White House, in order to more effectively serve you and advocate for your health and safety. In other words, they are working hard to stay on top of our leaders and ensure that they keep our First Responders in mind as they work on economic relief packages for all Americans.

Additionally, we are aware that the Hurst Police Department and the City of Hurst are diligently staying up to date with the latest developments and guidelines. This situation is very fluid and the County policy can sometimes change by the hour. The City and the Police Department are working hard to keep the health, safety, and well-being of their employees a priority and we will continue to relay any information that is pertinent to that goal.

Take care and stay safe,

Jacob Eubanks

Keeping you and your loved ones safe is something that we pride ourselves on every day. We're hopeful that you will help us continue to better serve our community by donating before 2019 comes to a close. Every single donation helps our officers.

When you give back to our community's law enforcement association it allows them to focus on protecting where we live and where our children play. It helps them keep more officers on the streets where necessary. Your safety is always our top priority.

Our association is also always looking for ways to contribute to our community. We donate youth sports gear such as bikes, encourage and educate troubled youth with after school activities to keep them active and away from gangs.

This is your chance to support our heroes, and continue to keep our community safe, guarded, and peaceful! Please DONATE today!

We just learned that Von Husbands has passed away. Von was such a caring human being. He created true Texas BBQ recipes for his restaurant Red Barn BBQ and was always generous with customers and those he supported. In his spare time, Von was highly dedicated to animal rescue. He always answered his phone when dogs needed help and he personally saw to it that police K9’s in our area had ballistic vests to keep them safer at work. Von was an ardent supporter of our law enforcement officers and many other agencies in the DFW area. Undoubtedly, he will be missed by all.

Red Barn BBQ is open today. If you can, please stop by to show your support for a man that supported the causes and efforts of so many others. Rest in Peace, Von.

A total of 1,582 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty during the past decade. That’s an average of one death every 55 hours. When a brother or sister in blue is lost, we feel a huge loss among our law enforcement family. They are wives, husbands, daughters, and sons. Supporting those closest to them in times of great need is essential, helping them recover all starts with you!

Donate and Sharing today helps our association provide support by sponsoring funeral arrangements, travel for families to visit their loved ones at the National Law Enforcement Memorial in DC, and other less tangible needs after the loss of one of our own. A little help can go a long way when their worlds are turned upside down.

Help share this message and show your support for our heroes' families, in times when they need us most!
