🚨🔥 BURN BAN NOW IN EFFECT — EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY 🔥🚨

Tangipahoa Parish is officially under a BURN BAN effective IMMEDIATELY.

Effective immediately, due to the extremely dry conditions and at the request of the parish’s local fire chiefs, Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller has issued a parish-wide burn ban.

“After talking with the fire chiefs and upon review of the local forecast, we agree that a burn ban is appropriate at this time,” Miller said.

The burn ban goes into effect immediately and will remain in place until rescinded. Miller said the ban includes all open residential and commercial burning.

The ban does not include bar-b-que pits, grills, or fire pits; however, the parish president asks that citizens “use extreme caution” if they utilize these items.

Husser Fire asks everyone to please comply with the burn ban until it is officially lifted.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for our area Friday, August 14, from 11 AM until 8 PM.

🌡️ Heat index values could reach up to 109°F.

💧 Stay hydrated — drink plenty of water
❄️ Take frequent breaks in air conditioning or shade
👕 Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing
⏰ Limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day
👵 Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and those without adequate A/C
🐾 Don’t forget about your pets — provide plenty of fresh water and shade
🚗 NEVER leave children or pets inside a vehicle — even for a few minutes

Hwy 40 at old uneedus rd to s Mansfield rd is shut down currently due to repairs from an early incident.

Detour will be old uneedus rd to w Mansfield to s Mansfield looping back to hwy 40. Expect delays.

Please be mindful of personnel working traffic.

🔥 IMPORTANT COMMUNITY NOTICE — DRY CONDITIONS and OUR RECOMMENDATIONS 🔥

Due to the extremely dry conditions in our area, discussion regarding a possible burn ban is currently taking place.

🚫 At this time, Husser Fire STRONGLY RECOMMENDS that residents DO NOT BURN.

Even a small outdoor fire can quickly become uncontrollable when conditions are this dry. We ask everyone to take this recommendation seriously and help us protect our community, homes, property, and first responders.

We will continue to keep our community updated with any changes regarding a burn ban.

🔥 CURRENT FIRE CONDITIONS — HUSSER AREA 🔥

We’ve received several calls over the last couple of days asking about a burn ban.

At this time, we are NOT under a burn ban.

However, your Husser firefighters encourage everyone to use extreme caution anytime you choose to burn. According to the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF), our area is currently experiencing HIGH fire danger.

🟡 HIGH FIRE DANGER — Level 3 of 5

Fire danger describes the probability of a fire starting, along with its potential rate of spread and intensity.

At the HIGH level:

• 🔥 Fires can start easily from most causes.
• 🔥 Fires may spread quickly, especially in heavy or dry fuels.
• 🔥 Control can become difficult if the initial attack is not started promptly.
• 🔥 Most fires can still be controlled within the first burning period when caught early.

No burn ban does NOT mean no fire danger.

If you choose to burn, stay with your fire at all times, have a reliable water source nearby, pay attention to wind conditions, and make sure the fire is completely extinguished before leaving it unattended.

🚒 Please burn responsibly and help us prevent the next call before it happens.
