Your community heros did some amazing live-fire training today!
Fire academy began in January with each student giving several hundred hours EACH in study, numerous quizzes and tests. This has been grueling for them - and their families.

Soon IFSAC accredited testing in Vancouver at the end of the month. Give them a "like" for support!

Their dedication and commitment towards becoming skilled responders directly affects our community safety and YOUR property insurance premiums.

Join us on June 10th 4-7 pm. We are recruiting for our next fire academy now.

Please be aware... burn bans are beginning.
Stay tuned for Zone 3 date. WKRFA, Trout Lake, Glenwood and Appleton are in Zone 3.
Burning is NOT allowed within the City of Bingen. Burning within the City of White Salmon via permits are subject to being discontinued sooner if needed but no later than the same time as Zone 3.

2026 Hose and Ladder testing.

One of the annual projects we do to help protect your insurance costs.
Equally important, to ensure our fire hose is in good condition so our firefighters are safe. 1 3/4” hose has ~ 100psi at the nozzle. A fully equipped firefighter can weigh nearly 300 pounds which is why we want our ladders inspected as well.

Outdoor burning? Consider this... we are all currently in a weather pattern that had an inversion over us. This keeps smoke from dissipating away.

While we don't regulate environmental burn bans, we hope folks will consider holding off without door burning for a couple more days when east wind is predicted to arrive. Collective outdoor burning on both sides of the river has brought noticeable accumulation of smoke in the entire region.

If you burn... get it hot which reduces smoke emitions.

Good neighbors make a great community.

PSA: Chimney Fire / Heating stove emergency #3 for Southwest Fire and Rescue in the last month last night. Please be vigilant and make sure ALL heating devices, no matter what kind, are in safe working order.

Seconds matter when fire arrives.

Good news: Two structures were SAVED. Both structures received expensive damages. One was limited to the stove itself, but had potential to quickly get out of control.

Bad news: Cold weather will arrive. Cleaning chimneys in inclement weather is nearly impossible.
