Hutchinson-Reno County Emergency Communications The Hutchinson-Reno County Emergency Communications center (HRCEC) went on-line October 28, 1983.

The creation of HRCEC consolidated dispatching for all emergency services in Reno County. Prior to 1983 dispatching for the various emergency services was done independently by each agency at several locations. This made it difficult to coordinate services in those instances when multiple agencies were involved. A consolidation of the dispatching for all agencies made coordination easier. It also

allowed the citizen to utilize one phone number to obtain help from any or all agencies as compared to having to dial separate numbers for each agency needed. After consolidation of communications in 1983, all agencies came under the services of HRCEC and all telephone and radio communications were handled through this agency. Hutchinson-Reno County Emergency Communications now dispatches in some form or another for 42 agencies on 24 frequencies. HRCEC operates under the auspices of the Hutchinson Police Department and the City of Hutchinson with the guidance of an Advisory Board consisting of department heads from the various agencies served by HRCEC.
