Today is more than a day off.

It is a day to remember those who never made it home, to honor the families who carry that loss, and to reflect on the freedoms we get to enjoy because of their sacrifice. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

They answered the call and gave everything in return.

We honor their legacy today and always. ๐Ÿ’™

EMS Week 2026: Friday: EMS Recognition Day ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿš‘

No pictures today, just vibes and some encouragement to go check out Kansas EMS Association's page to check out the videos created to educate and bring awareness to the important role that EMS providers play in communities across the state. You might even see a few of your own Reno County EMS providers in there ๐Ÿ‘€

Some people run from chaos and blood. EMS providers park backwards in the driveway and walk toward it carrying a monitor and enough caffeine to kickstart anyone's heart.

Today, we recognize the providers who spend their lives taking care of complete strangers on some of their hardest days. The people who can perform under pressure, adapt in seconds, and still find time to crack a joke in the middle of a 2am lift assist.

Behind every ambulance is a crew carrying years of training, sacrifice, exhaustion, compassion, and dedication to this community, as well as the bright (sometimes even bright-eyed and bushy-tailed), passionate, and driven young professionals that this career seems to attract.

This career isnโ€™t easy. It takes resilience, teamwork, and the ability to function on questionable sleep schedules and coworkers who somehow become your family.

๐Ÿšจ To all EMS professionals: thank you for continuing to answer the call and serve others with heart. ๐Ÿšจ

We see you. We appreciate you. And today, we celebrate you. ๐Ÿ’™

EMS Week 2026: Day 4

Thursday is Save A Life Day ๐Ÿฉธ๐Ÿš‘

May is National Stop the Bleed Month, and TODAY is Stop the Bleed Day.. this means itโ€™s all about empowering everyday people to step in before EMS arrives.

Because the truth is: bystanders are almost always there first and can almost always make a difference.

The person who starts CPR before we arrive?
Hero. ๐Ÿ’™

The person who grabs the AED?
Hero. ๐Ÿ’™

The person who throws on gloves, applies pressure, and keeps someone alive long enough for us to take over?
Absolute hero. ๐Ÿ’™

You donโ€™t need a patch, lights and sirens, or a caffeine addiction to save a life. A little training and the willingness to act can make all the difference.

So today, learn CPR.
Learn Stop the Bleed.
And maybe donโ€™t let your emergency response plan include standing around with your phone in your hand looking for someone to help.. BE the help ๐Ÿ’™

EMS Week โ€“ Wednesday: EMS for Children Day ๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿงธ

Kids arenโ€™t just tiny adults โ€” they require specialized care, quick thinking, calm voices, and sometimes a pocket full of stickers. EMS for Children Day highlights the unique challenges of caring for pediatric patients and the importance of making sure our crews are prepared for every little emergency that comes our way.

At Reno County EMS, we care for patients of all ages โ€” from first breaths to golden years โ€” and today weโ€™re celebrating the littlest ones we serve.

And speaking of little onesโ€ฆ our crews were once tiny humans too. Before the radios, stretchers, and sirens, they were making messes, pushing toy carts, and probably keeping their parents on their toes.

So enjoy this look back at some of our providers before they traded snack time for shift change and toys for trauma bags. ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿš‘
