Carissa Paxton has joined New Beginnings as the Director of Housing! She comes to the job
with extensive and decisive experience in the housing market, the community need in
housing, and development of new housing units for Hutchinson and its affordable housing
community. She has worked as the Youth Leadership Program Coordinator for Rise Up
Reno Prevention, the Housing Coordinator for the City of Hutchinson, and remains a realtor
residential specialist.

Every night, neighbors in crisis arrive at Noel Lodge with nowhere else to turn. Here, they find more than a bed — they find compassionate support, hot meals, and a safe place to begin again.
This Giving Tuesday, our urgent goal is to fund 200 nights of shelter.

When most people saw an old school bus, Nicky Crawford saw a chance to restore dignity. 🚌💙

In Atlanta, Georgia, he transformed that bus into a mobile laundry and hygiene center for the homeless — complete with washers, dryers, clean water tanks, showers, haircuts, health checks, and meals.

Working with Georgia Tech design students, Crawford brought his vision to life through his nonprofit Flowing with Blessings Inc. The bus now serves around 50 people a day, often parking outside Grady Memorial Hospital, giving unhoused individuals the chance to wash their clothes and refresh themselves — simple acts that carry immense weight for confidence, dignity, and health.

Crawford’s mission shows that compassion doesn’t always require millions of dollars or massive programs. Sometimes it’s about recognizing that clean clothes and a warm shower can open doors to hope and opportunity. His project is proof that small changes can have the power to rebuild lives.
