Hutchinson Regional Airport experienced an inbound emergency this evening at approximately 6pm local time. While the aircraft was not able to make it to the airfield the pilot was able to land safely in an empty field. Hutchinson Fire Department responded to the scene, no injuries reported, minimal property damage observed, aircraft did sustain damage. Kansas Highway Patrol will be the investigating authority at this time.

✈️ Runway Closure Notice – Hutchinson Regional Airport

Primary runway 13/31 is currently closed for coring and survey work. We anticipate reopening late afternoon on March 27, barring any complications.

In the meantime, runways 17/35 and 4/22 remain open and available. Please be sure your aircraft performance and operational needs align with these shorter runway lengths prior to arrival.

This closure overlaps with the 2026 NJCAA Division tournament, so we appreciate everyone’s coordination and flexibility.
