🚨Barnstable Police Department Announces Upgraded False Alarm Management System 🚨

The Barnstable Police Department has upgraded to False Alarm Management System (FAMS), effective August 24, 2026. This updated system is designed to provide a more efficient and organized process for residents and businesses who maintain alarm permits. Through the new Citizen Portal, users can now register or renew alarm permits, update account information, pay false alarm invoices, and stay informed about alarm activity. The portal is available at https://product.cityalarmpermit.com/FAMSCitizen/Barnstable/

As this transition takes place, users may receive email notifications from the new system regarding permit updates, account changes, or billing information. The Barnstable Police Department appreciates the community’s patience as these improvements are put into place. 🚧 Temporary Traffic Modifications Anticipated on West Main Street, Hyannis 🚧

WHEN: Monday, 8/31 - Tuesday, 9/1

TIME: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, weather permitting

WHAT: Soil borings along West Main Street (Hyannis), between Old Strawberry Hill Road and Dunn’s Pond Road

IMPACT: Expect traffic modifications such as temporary lane closures with single-lane alternating traffic, or temporary lane narrowing.

These efforts will serve the West Main Street and Pine Street Intersection Improvement Project, which is anticipated to begin construction later this fall.

🐕 A Pet Advisory remains in effect at Lovells Pond, Cotuit.
🐕 A Pet Advisory remains in effect at Long Pond, Marstons Mills.
🐕 A Pet Advisory remains in effect at Fawcetts Pond, Hyannis.

Kudos to Hyannis Firefighters for this monumental achievement! 👏

Today, in partnership with Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis Fire Department began carrying low-titer O whole blood.

Our Transfusion Medics can now deliver blood to patients in hemorrhagic shock at the scene and en route. Severe bleeding is the leading preventable cause of death after injury, and every minute without blood decreases a patient’s chance of survival. Care that used to begin at the trauma bay now begins the moment we arrive!

This is a regional asset, available to every department on Cape Cod, on any call that needs it, in any town. 🩸
