Updated Interestrates are published for 7/1/2025 update.

Interest rates are determined each June 1 for the upcoming award year by adding a fixed percentage to the high yield of the 10-year Treasury note auctioned at the final auction prior to June 1.

As a result of the May 6 auction, the interest rate for federal loans first disbursed on or after July 1, 2025 are expected to slightly decrease from:

⬇️ 6.53% to 6.39% for undergraduate Direct Loans

⬇️ 8.08% to 7.94% for graduate/professional Direct Unsubsidized Loans

⬇️ 9.08% to 8.94% for Parent and Grad PLUS loans

The interest rate caps for these loans are 8.25%, 9.5 %, and 10.5%, respectively.

The Massachusetts Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (MASFAA) would like to express our disappointment in the administration’s recent decision to eliminate a significant number of positions from the Department of Education, including more than 600 positions from the office of Federal Student Aid. The loss of these vital roles will not only have a significant impact on students and families applying for financial aid each year, but also the financial aid administrators that work to support them.



As colleagues and partners in the financial aid process, MASFAA stands in solidarity with the former Department of Education employees and would like to offer an opportunity for them to join us for a complimentary Associate Membership for the remainder of the 2024-2025 award year. This membership includes access to our jobs board, membership directory, and remaining programming for the year. It is our hope that this will provide resources to support those who may be seeking their next opportunity at a Massachusetts institution.

The start of day 2 of MASFAA conference is underway. We are Daring to Lead with Nicole McDermott who is guiding us in “Who we are is how we lead.”

It has been a great first half of day 1 at our annual conference. We started the day with Jason LeVasseur getting us up, moving and connecting.
After lunch we had our charity for this year, Food 4 Kids, give a small presentation on what amazing work they do and that our contributions will help them do!
