Kathy Bailey for Abington School Committee

Kathy Bailey for Abington School Committee Re-Elect Kathy Bailey to the Abington School Committee. It is an awesome responsibility to provide for the education of our children.

Elect Kathleen Bailey, Retired Educator,
Current School Committee Member

A school committee as a whole should contain representatives from all of the town's stakeholders with a variety of perspectives and levels of expertise in the many needs of the educational system. I've always felt that a town's ability to meet the needs of its children and of its schools is the key co

mponent to the future of that community. As a result I've spent my adult years doing what I can to promote best practices and opportunities in education in Abington, in other communities on the South Shore, across Massachusetts, and across New England. At this complex point in time, from both an educational and fiscal stand point, I would like to be given the opportunity to continue to put my experience and education to use for the benefit of the students of Abington. There are five components that I feel qualify me for this position:
I have a wide ranging eclectic set of experiences within the field of education. I have no preconceived agenda except to do what is best for all students in the school system. I have a connection to the Abington business community through my involvement with my husband's business, Eddie Bailey's Garage Inc. I have a proven track record of volunteerism with the community, and have worked tirelessly for the schools in my first term on the School Committee. I have the desire and the time to put all my experience to work on behalf of the students of Abington.

Thank you to everyone who supported me and worked so hard for my reelection. Unfortunately we were not successful this time. I have thoroughly enjoyed working for the students in Abington and I hope all the progress we’ve made will continue with the new member elected to the school committee today. Congratulations to Lisa and Jackie.

It was a busy day yesterday at the statehouse. I was happy to be there gathering information and making sure the Abington Public School had a Visible presence as lawmakers debated the state budget.

3 years have passed and election time has come around again. A great deal has been accomplished during the years that I have been on the committee. We have totally updated the policy handbook for the Abington Public Schools, and we have it posted on the website for MASC. We have opened our new school and moved our teachers and students to their new locations. I’ve worked to develop a Superintendent evaluation system for our district that meets the guidelines of DESE, and it is used on an annual basis. I’ve represented Abington on the Board of Directors for North River Collaborative, at the “Day on the Hill”, an event that gives School Committee members access to our state legislators, and I’ve attended the annual conference of MASC and MASS.
There is, however, more work to be done. Now that we have our new state of the art facility, we need to take a look at the curriculums, schedules, and technology we have in place and make those adjustments needed to utilize it to its greatest potential for the education of our students and the use of our community.

I couldn't possible have found better campaign workers. Thank you Charlotte and Sally.
