Hyattsville Aging in Place (HAP) is a volunteer-run nonprofit village dedicated to helping Hyattsville residents as they age in our community. (Villages are grassroots organizations around the country focused on supporting seniors.) We provide volunteer services, educational and social events and help advocate for the interests of our neighbors. Our services are available to residents of the City

of Hyattsville over the age of 60. HAP got started in 2011 and has provided rides, help with yard work, installed smoke detectors, moved furniture, shoveled snow and regularly visited with neighbors. HAP is funded through yearly membership dues and generous donations and grants. HAP membership is only $35 per year for individuals and $40 total for a couple ($20 for each). We are supported by a great group of volunteers who keep the organization running and provide services to our neighbors. Our volunteers are trained and must pass a background check before working with HAP’s neighbors.

Responsibilities will focus on developing and supporting wellness, health, and educational programs for community members, including identifying and connecting with programs of interest developed by like-minded groups in the region; encouraging member-run programs; and building relationships with HAP members, volunteers, and supporters.

This is a hybrid part-time (up to 15 hours/week at $27/hour) contract position. For a full description of the position and information about how to apply, visit www.HyattsvilleAgingInPlace.org/jobs.

This Giving Tuesday, please support Hyattsville Aging in Place, a local, volunteer-based non-profit working to support older adults as they age in our community. HAP provides social connections and practical support to help people remain active and engaged as they age in their chosen home and community. To learn more about HAP and the work it accomplished over the past year, take a look at our latest annual report.

You can support HAP today by becoming a member, volunteering, or making a donation.

You can also support HAP on Monday, December 8, by dining and shopping at Franklins! All day long, if you tell the host or cashier that you are at Franklins to support HAP, 20% of your purchase will be donated to HAP. It’s a great way to support two local institutions at once!

For more information about HAP, contact [email protected] or visit www.HyattsvilleAgingInPace.org.

HAP is pleased to announce that we have been awarded an FY 2025 Community Partnership Grant from the Prince George’s County Office of the County Executive. The funding will go to support HAP’s food delivery program, as well as transportation services. Last year, a county Community Partnership Grant helped HAP deliver about 1.7 tons of fresh produce to Hyattsville seniors, along with a number of complete meals.
