Come celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Gremlins Tattoo Lounge with us! This is a major accomplishment for any business. Hyattsville is home, and will continue to be years to come.

There will be food and drinks (until it’s all gone) and available artists looking to do flash tattoos. Some artists will be booked that day, and you can check out what they’re working on. Feel free to just come kick it with people there. Thankful for anyone who shows up, and those that have been coming throughout the years!

At the 2026 Hyattsville Art Festival, junior reporters stepped up to cover the event for Hyattsville Life & Times, interviewing more than a dozen artists who came to the festival on September 19th. Pick up a print copy or visit tinyurl.com/hvljrreporters to see what they wrote!

It is with very heavy hearts that we share this sad news.

Stuart Eisenberg, the founding Executive Director of the Hyattsville Community Development Corporation, sadly passed away this week at home in Hyattsville, Maryland.

Stuart was the driving force behind HyCDC’s transformation from a newly founded nonprofit into an impactful community organization. He helped shape HyCDC’s core mission at the time, developing arts and public spaces, spurring economic development, and rebuilding the city’s commercial corridors.

Stuart served as Executive Director of HyCDC from 2005 to 2025, when he decided to retire and pursue other endeavors. His contributions to Hyattsville and the Gateway Arts District were numerous, driving economic development and revitalization throughout the area.

Stuart’s impact extended well beyond HyCDC as he also served as a City of Hyattsville Councilmember, sat on the boards of the Anacostia Trails Heritage Area and the Hyattsville Preservation Association, managed the Gateway Arts District, and was a member of the Oddfellows.

One of Stuart’s crowning accomplishments was the Hyattsville Arts Festival, which grew under his stewardship into one of the area’s largest arts festivals now entering its 17th year. This year’s festival will include a special tribute to Stuart, honoring his memory and the many contributions he made to this community.

Stuart could usually be found on his bike, enjoying the Trolley Trail he helped bring to fruition, or joining the group rides organized by Arrow Bicycle.

Stuart’s years of leadership and dedication in shaping the community of Hyattsville will not be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to inspire the arts, economic growth, and civic spirit that define this city for generations to come.

The countdown to the 2026 Hyattsville Arts Festival is on! Join us on Saturday, September 19, 2026. We are looking finalizing this year’s lineup and look forward to announcing our full roster of vendors and artists later this summer.

In the meantime, we’re excited to share that this year’s Emerging Artist Tent has been awarded to Pratiksha Chimbalkar! With a background in landscape architecture, her work is deeply influenced by nature, built environments, Indian culture, and the visual memories she carries from growing up in India.

The Emerging Artist Tent is awarded in honor of Jennifer Axner, a beloved artist and community leader whose vibrant work touched public spaces throughout Prince George’s County. In 2016, Jennifer founded the Hyattsville Figure Drawing group, designed to be a welcoming space where participants of all levels could share in the joy of creating art.
