Tomorrow morning June 5th will be the annual mock DWI event at FD Roosevelt high school. From 8am-11am you will notice multi emergency vehicles and agencies at the school.
This annual event is held the morning of senior prom as a reminder of the serious consequences of driving under the influence and distracted driving.

Last Monday evening, members of the Roosevelt Fire District conducted a vehicle fire training drill focused on safe vehicle approach and fire attack operations.
Members reviewed the hazards associated with vehicle fires and discussed the importance of proper apparatus placement, identifying potential dangers, establishing a safe work area, and selecting the safest approach to a burning vehicle. Training emphasized firefighter safety, situational awareness, and recognizing changing fire conditions during vehicle fire incidents.

Crews then participated in practical evolutions, practicing hoseline deployment, coordinated fire attack techniques, and extinguishment procedures on a vehicle fire scenario. The drill provided members with an opportunity to reinforce critical skills and build confidence in handling one of the more common fire responses encountered by the department.

Ongoing training ensures our firefighters are prepared to respond safely and effectively when called upon by the community.

Despite the inclement weather, members of the Roosevelt Fire Department and the Staatsburg community gathered this morning in solemn remembrance to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation and in defense of the freedoms we hold dear. May we always remember their sacrifice, cherish the freedoms they secured, and strive to live in a manner worthy of their devotion. 📷Janice Ciampaglione

What started as a single inter agency training about 5 years ago has turned into one of the best working relationships around. 

All beginning with one drill the Roosevelt Fire District and Hyde Park police now host multiple inter agency cross trainings per year. Covering a wide variety of topics including hostile event response, EMS for police officers, door breaching and forcible entry and missing person searches. We are currently in the process of finalizing a physical fitness program to promote members and officers health with the gym in the firehouse.

This familiarity between members of both agencies has led to seamless operations on scenes and assisting each other daily to provide the best service to the residents of Hyde Park.

Thank you to the Dutchess County EMS council for recognizing both agencies last night with the inter agency collaboration Award. We look forward to many more years of an amazing relationship!

Roosevelt Fire District recently conducted an overland search drill in coordination with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Drone Unit and our mutual aid partners from the Fairview Fire District. Crews worked together to simulate locating and assisting lost and injured hikers, utilizing both ground search teams and aerial drone support to improve efficiency and coordination in a wooded environment. This training provided valuable experience in communication, search tactics, and multi-agency operations.

A special thank you to the Dutchess County Medical Reserve Corps for volunteering their time to act as the lost and injured hikers—your participation helped make this drill both realistic and successful.
