Hyde Park Fire Department

Hyde Park Fire Department This is the official page of the Hyde Park Fire Department. In 1885 Active Hose became part of Eagle Engine and Rescue Hook & Ladder was formed.

The Hyde Park Fire Department began as two separate companies, Eagle Engine in 1845 and in 1880 Active Hose Company. In 1876 the company's shared quarters in the old Hyde Park school house, now the property of the Roosevelt Inn.. In May of 1893 the firehouse burned to the ground,, the members were able to save the pumper and hose wagon, but the ladder was destroyed. In 1902 the company's moved int

o a new station which they occupied until 1960. The old station is now home to the Hyde Park Historical Society. The company's responded together to alarms, they maintained their own identities and rotated the privilege of electing a chief every two years. In 1960 they officially merged into one becoming the Hyde Park Fire Department and moving to the current firehouse at 4306 Albany Post Road. The department today is 20 members strong and answers approximately 650 alarms annually. The members operate an Engine, a Tower Ladder, a Rescue Pumper and a Brush Truck.

After a busy few days our members still are out there training. All of our drivers are required annually to perform the skills of drafting water from a pond or river. The Hyde Park Fire Department would like to thank the Hyde Park Landing for allowing us to use the property.

Hyde Park Fire Department wishes to congratulate Kevin Lee on his graduation from the Massachusetts State Fire Academy.

Kevin spent time with our department as an interior firefighter, attending many NYS Firefighter training classes in Dutchess County and was introduced to the EMS and Fire Service profession, while HPFD is 100% volunteer the professional training and mutual aid work with paid and other volunteer fire departments and working professionally with a paid EMS ambulance service were invaluable to him and our community, he is a young man who knows what he wants to do with his abilities and always seeks more education. We are blessed and thankful for his service to the HPFD service area.
Cheers to Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin Lee. We wish continued success in this exciting new chapter in his professional career.
