🚨 Are You Prepared for an Emergency? Your Smartphone Can Help! 📱

Join us at the library for an upcoming Disaster Preparedness & Technology class!

Technology can be an important part of staying safe and informed during severe weather, natural disasters, power outages, and other emergencies. This hands-on presentation will show you how to make the most of the technology you already have.

We’ll cover:
• How to use the FEMA and Red Cross apps, including setting emergency alerts
• Helpful built-in features on your smartphone
• Ways to keep your phone and other essential devices charged during a prolonged power outage
• How to use social media to get emergency information from local and national authorities

This is a great opportunity to learn some simple things you can do before an emergency happens that could make a big difference when you need them.

👉 We need at least 5 people registered for the presenter to come to the library, so please register if you’re interested! And feel free to share this post with family and friends who might benefit from the class.

Is that AI? Come join us to train your eye to recognize AI!

Thursday August 20 @ 1pm!

With the advances in artificial intelligence (AI) technology, AI programs can now create text, images, and much more. At first sight, it may be hard to tell if what you see was created or altered by AI.

In this session, we’ll hear from Pam with Connections Area Agency on Aging, and she'll teach us tips and tools to help determine if an image or piece of writing was generated by AI.

We’ll also discuss what tech companies like Google are doing to create systems to detect the use of AI.

📚☀️ Summer Reading is Wrapping Up! ☀️📚

What an incredible summer it's been! Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's Summer Reading Program.

⏰ Don't forget! All reading logs must be turned in to the library by Friday, July 31 to be eligible for our prize drawings.

🎉 We'll be drawing winners next week, so make sure you get your logs in on time. Whether you read one book or one hundred, we're proud of all the reading you've done this summer!
