📚💜 Libraries Helping Libraries — It’s a Beautiful Thing! 💜📚

Pictured with Miss Marli is Susan Lansdell from Winthrop Public Library in Winthrop, Arkansas.

As a small library with limited funding, Winthrop Public Library is always looking for ways to add more resources for its patrons. So when we have books, DVDs, and audiobooks that we've weeded from our own shelves, we're more than happy to share them!

Needless to say, Susan was thrilled to take these “new-to-them” treasures back to her library and give them a second life in the hands of her patrons. 🥰📖🎬🎧

This is one of the things we love most about libraries: we don’t just serve our communities—we support each other, too.

Because when libraries help libraries, everyone wins! 💜

📚 Libraries helping libraries… it really is a beautiful thing!

We are still reeling from the loss of this precious woman. Stop by the Idabel Public Library and have a look at the display that Miss Marli put together to honor Dolly Parton.

Thank you, Dolly. For your music and for your heart. There will never be another like you. We will miss your light. And, especially from all of us who believe in the power of books, thank you for also seeing the importance of helping the next generation learn to read. For everything you have done for this world, we will always love you! ❤️

Yes, the items on the display are available for checkout.

We had our first participant to complete the Back-To-School Reading Challenge today. This young reader logged 8 hours of reading and selected a prize from the Prize Shelves. Congratulations!!

If your child would like to participate in the challenge, come by the Idabel Public Library and pick up a bookmark to log their reading. Each image marked off on the bookmark equals 15 minutes, for a total of 8 hours when completed. We look forward to seeing you and your child!

💜 A Little Extra Comfort at Your Library 💜

Did you know that the Idabel Public Library has a variety of sensory support items available for anyone who may benefit from them while visiting us? We want our library to be a welcoming, comfortable, and inclusive place for everyone. 📚✨

Our sensory collection includes items such as noise-canceling headphones, fidget toys, sensory balls, calming bottles, worry stones, and more. Whether you need something to help with focus, reduce distractions, or simply provide a little extra comfort while you enjoy your time at the library, we’re happy to help. 🧩🎧💙

You’ll find our sensory items behind the Circulation Desk. All you need to do is ask a staff member and sign out the item(s) you’d like to use. Take them with you while you visit, then simply return them to the Circulation Desk before you leave.

No special explanation is needed, and there’s no need to feel hesitant about asking. If a sensory item helps make your library visit more comfortable, we want you to use it! 💜

We’re here for our whole community, and we’re always looking for ways to make the library a place where everyone feels welcome. 🌈📖
