In Transcarpathia, among the impregnable rocks of Svydivets and the Hutsul Alps, a magical edelweiss flower grows, which is popularly called a silk braid, that is, a silk flower. The Latin name of the flower Leontopodium alpinum comes from the Greek words leon - lion and podion - paw, because the appearance of the inflorescence of this plant resembles a lion's paw.
Edelweiss is a symbol of climbers, and it is also believed that the plant brings love and happiness.
