The developers who are under contract on the Carlson Elementary property at 1300 Colorado Boulevard are hosting a community meeting on December 1, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Idaho Springs City Hall to discuss their vision for the property before submitting their Final Development Plan application. This is the first step in the process and is meant to answer community questions, receive feedback, and help guide the development. See additional details on the attached photo.

No decisions will be made at the meeting. Once an application is formally submitted, there will be future opportunities for public review and comment during the referral period and at Planning Commission and City Council meetings.

The City is hosting the meeting so that it can be live streamed on YouTube for anyone who cannot attend in person. A recording will be available on YouTube after the meeting. City staff will be at the meeting to listen and answer any questions about the process and how the public can be involved, but the primary purpose is for the developer to hear from the community.

Please reach out with any questions. We hope to see you on December 1!

We just got word from the ARGO Mill and Tunnel that they'll be doing helicopter work this Friday, June 27th, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. During that time, Trek Trails at Virginia Canyon Mountain Park will be CLOSED. Please plan accordingly! Once the trails reopen, access to the park will change to a new east-side ramp. We'll be sharing more info on that shortly.

Final Reminder for Tonight:

As part of the city's Comprehensive Plan update, we have found that most residents think neighborhood charm and character are highly valued, but are potentially at risk.

Tonight we are hosting a roundtable meeting to discuss historic preservation and the history of Idaho Springs, the things that make Idaho Springs special and need to be protected, threats and concerns, and opportunities.

Please come if you want to learn about historic preservation, if you have ideas about how neighborhood charm and character should be preserved, or just want to have some snacks with fellow residents!

Questions? Preguntas? Contact City Planner (and local resident) Dylan Graves at [email protected] or 303-567-4421 extension 118.

This is a reminder about next week's Historic Preservation, Community Character, and Neighborhood Charm roundtable taking place at City Hall at 6:00P.M. on Wednesday, June 25.

Staff will give a presentation on the city's historic district, other historic resources in town, and the regulations and opportunities that go along with historic regulations. From there, we will have a discussion about what further historic preservation efforts might be needed and/or desired and what priorities the community has for the city's historic charm and neighborhood character.

Topics could include residential historic districts, preservation of key features through architectural guidelines, talk about densities and building bulk/mass, etc.

Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks to be provided.
