On June 6, 2026, an ISPD officer responded to Indian Hot Springs for an elderly man experiencing a medical emergency. While the patient was conscious and breathing when first responders arrived, a language barrier quickly became a challenge, as the patient and his wife spoke Russian.

Using the translation feature on ISPD's newly upgraded body-worn cameras, officers helped paramedics communicate effectively with the couple, ensuring the patient received the care he needed. Both the medical staff and the patient were excited to see how well the technology worked, and the patient was extremely grateful for the ability to communicate during a stressful situation.

We would love to share the interaction with our community, but due to HIPAA regulations and patient privacy, we are unable to do so. Still, this is a great example of how ISPD's upgraded body cameras are helping us better serve everyone who calls Idaho Springs home or visits our beautiful community.

💙 The patient is doing well, and we're thankful for the positive outcome.

🍩Happy National Donut Day from ISPD! 🍩

And while our officer may be living his best National Donut Day life, it’s a good reminder that Clear Creek County remains under a Stage 1 Fire Ban.

That means:
🚫 No open fires
🚫 No campfires
🚫 No charcoal grills
🚫 No wood-burning stoves
✅ Propane grills and propane fire pits are still allowed, so if you're feeling inclined to fire up the grill or pit this weekend... just remember that during a Stage 1 Fire Ban, your fire should have one very important feature: an on/off switch or valve and the ability to be quickly extinguished.

The mountains are drying out, and it only takes one spark to start a wildfire. So please be responsible, follow the fire restrictions, and help us keep the mountains safe and enjoyable for everyone this summer.

Enjoy your cookouts responsibly. Enjoy your donuts responsibly.

And remember: Only YOU🫵 can prevent forest fires!

Thank you for your patience today as crews moved large boulders to the new police station site. Temporary closures are currently taking place in the 1700 block of Colorado Blvd. while the work is being completed.

Exciting Progress at ISPD! 🚔

Construction on the new Idaho Springs Police Department facility at 1744 Miner Street is on track for completion this August! We’re excited to continue serving our community from this updated, centrally located space.

As we prepare for this next chapter, we also want to honor the history of this special location from its days as a gas station and service shop to the beloved Szechwan Fu restaurant.

Do you have old photos of this property through the years? We’d love to see them! Please send us a message here on Facebook. With your permission, we hope to display these historical images inside the new station to help preserve the story of this important place.

Thank you for helping us celebrate Idaho Springs history! 💙

Today, we remember the men and women who gave everything in service to our country. Memorial Day is a chance to slow down, spend time with the people we care about, and remember those who never got the chance to come home.

We’re especially thinking of the families carrying that loss today. Your sacrifice is never forgotten.

Whether you’re attending a ceremony, gathering with family and friends, or simply enjoying the day, we hope everyone takes a moment to reflect on what this day truly means.

Please note that City offices are closed today in observance of Memorial Day and will reopen tomorrow during normal business hours.

From all of us at ISPD, we wish you a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

As the “100 Deadliest Days of Summer” begin between Memorial Day and Labor Day , a time known for a drastic increase in traffic fatalities. The Idaho Springs Police Department wants to remind everyone to slow down, stay alert, and obey all traffic laws.

With warmer temperatures bringing more motorcycles and bicycles onto the roads, it’s important for everyone to do their part to keep our community safe. Riders and drivers alike should follow posted speed limits and use extra caution while traveling.

Last night, an ISPD officer conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle traveling 93 MPH in a posted 45 MPH work zone near mile marker 241 on westbound I-70. The rider was issued a 12-point speeding citation.

Motorcycles can already be difficult for other motorists to see, and excessive speed makes it even harder for drivers to react safely.
Please remember:
🚧Slow down
🚧Follow posted speed limits
🚧Pay attention in work zones
🚧Look twice for motorcycles and bicycles

Let’s work together to make this summer a safe one for everyone on our roads.

Yesterday, ISPD had the pleasure of hosting our annual Pizza with Police at Carlson Elementary! 🍕🚓

This is something we look forward to every year as the school year wraps up. It’s a great opportunity for our officers and staff to connect with the kids and celebrate all their hard work throughout the year.

A huge THANK YOU to Beau Jo's for their generous donation of pizza each year. Your continued support helps make this special event possible for our community’s students!

We hope all the students, teachers, and families have a safe and fun-filled summer! 🌞

Tonight at 5:00 PM on Miner Street, we invite the community to come together and celebrate the graduating Class of 2026 during the Senior Graduation parade!

Grab a patio seat, line the sidewalks, and help us cheer on these incredible seniors as they make their way through historic downtown Idaho Springs. This is such a milestone, and we hope our community will come out to show them how proud we are of them all.

From all of us at ISPD, congratulations to the Class of 2026! We are proud of each one of you and wish you nothing but success, happiness, and endless opportunities in your journeys ahead.
