Part-Time Officers receive:

Competitive pay starting at $22.00 per hour

Take-home patrol vehicle (for eligible officers living within an approved jurisdiction)

Flexible scheduling

Ongoing training and professional development opportunities

We’re also seeking Reserve Officers who want to continue serving their community with a flexible schedule while gaining valuable training and professional growth opportunities.

UPDATE REGARDING FIREARM INCIDENT
In reference to the recent incident involving the discharge of a firearm within the city limits of Ideal, the Ideal Police Department is providing the following update:

On August 6, 2026, the Ideal Police Department successfully apprehended Mr. John Miller Sr. in connection with the incident.

Following the completion of the Ideal Police Department’s supplemental investigation, Mr. Miller was turned over to the Macon County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation and appropriate action.

The Ideal Police Department remains committed to working collaboratively with the Macon County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement partners to ensure the safety and security of the citizens of Ideal.
As this remains an active investigation, additional information will be released when appropriate and when doing so will not compromise the integrity of the investigation.

Mr. Miller is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The allegations referenced in this release are accusations only and should not be considered evidence of guilt.

💥NOW HIRING: PART-TIME POLICE OFFICERS💥

The City of Ideal Police Department is currently accepting applications for Part-Time Police Officers.

We are looking for motivated, professional, and service-oriented individuals who are committed to protecting our community with integrity and professionalism. This is an excellent opportunity for Georgia POST-certified officers looking to supplement their current employment, maintain their certification, or continue serving in law enforcement with a flexible schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Georgia POST Certified (or eligible for certification)
• At least 21 years of age
• Valid Georgia driver’s license
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, not to exceed 29 hours per week
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to ethical policing

We had a wonderful time at our First Annual Ideal Clothing Drive! Thank you to Ideal Police Department’s Corporal Monique Lewis for putting this event together. This event would not have been possible without the incredible help & support of Miona Geriatric and Dementia Center, Mrs. Cathy Green (Administrator), her amazing staff, and all of the residents.

A special thank you to Ray Jones & his community at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist… Their Contributions & Participation was tremendous!

We truly appreciate everyone who attended and contributed. It is our hope that we were able to be a blessing to those in need and make a positive impact in our community.
