~ FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY ~

Formed in 1982, the Friends of the Idyllwild Library has accomplished much in its short history. Devoted to promoting public awareness and use of the library, the Friends has purchased books monthly for the permanent collection, partially funded salaries of employees to increase the number of hours the library is open, provided volunteers working in many phases of library operations, purchased equipment, and assisted in improvements to the library building and facilities.

**(On hold due to pandemic)** Each year on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and again on Saturday of Labor Day weekend the Friends of the Library host popular and well attended used book sales. They also sponsor a sales room within the library where used books, videos, and other materials are available for purchase. The Friends also have a used book store inside the library with great, low prices. The work of the Friends has encouraged numerous donations of books, videos, magazines, and audio tapes to the Idyllwild Library, giving it one of the highest levels of community support throughout the Riverside County Library System. If you would like to become a member of the Friends of the Idyllwild Library or a library volunteer, application forms are available at the library or at events sponsored by the Friends. You may also join and/or make donations through their website: friendsoftheidyllwildlibrary.com It is not necessary to be a member of the Friends in order to volunteer at the library. See any library staff member for information or call the library at (951) 659-2300.
