PRESS RELEASE

Happy Days!!!! After a meeting this morning with Central Paving, the 2026 Village of Ilion Paving Project is set to commence with milling on Wednesday or Thursday next week (May 6 or 7, 2026), if everything goes as planned.

Be aware that there will be heavy equipment and trucks throughout the village and there may be delays and detours caused by the project work.

This project is extensive and we are hopeful that it will allow for completion of 6-7 miles of streets and some work on village owned parking lots.

Please give the crews the courtesy of slowing down and adhering to directions and detours/work related traffic stoppages. Everyone needs to go home at the end of the day.

When you get behind the wheel, be an example to your family and friends by putting your phone away. Just because other people do it doesn’t mean texting and driving is “normal” behavior.

The Village of Ilion Police Department will be taking part in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's "Put the Phone Away or Pay" campaign from April 9th through April 13th, 2026. Do not use your phone while operating a motor vehicle. If you do, you may face some serious consequences.

As a reminder to residents of the Village of Ilion, the Ilion Police Department is assigned the responsibility of issuing handicap parking permits to village residents. For more clarity on the process, we have listed the steps below. To obtain a handicap parking permit:

- You must be a Village of Ilion resident for the Ilion Police Department to issue this permit
- You must have a physician sign the handicap parking permit application by utilizing NYS form MV-664.1
- After the physician has signed the MV-664.1, you will then bring that form to the Ilion Police Department with your ID, where a permit can then be issued

The MV-664.1 form can be located on the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles website or can be provided by visiting the Ilion Police Department. The Village of Ilion Clerks Office does not handle handicap parking permits and will re-direct you to the police department if contacted. If you have any further questions regarding this process, you can contact the Ilion Police Department at 315-894-9911.
