Illinois Library Crawl 2026 — October Event

The 8th Annual Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS) Library Crawl will run October 1–31, 2026, inviting patrons to visit multiple public libraries across central and southern Illinois, collect stamps, and discover new resources.

The Library Crawl is a month‑long, fun, community‑building event organized by IHLS member libraries, led by the Bethalto Public Library.

It’s similar to a “pub crawl” but for libraries — you visit different libraries, get a stamp on your passport, and explore local collections, programs, and services.

How to participate
Get a passport – Pick one up at any participating library or download it from the official IHLS Library Crawl website
www.illinoisheartland.org.

Visit libraries – Travel to other participating libraries in October and get stamped at each. Many libraries offer special activities, giveaways, or contests.

Complete the crawl – A common goal is to collect five stamps (excluding your home library).

Return your passport – Submit it at your home library to be eligible for prizes or contests.

You can also use your library card to check out materials at visited libraries; IHLS’s statewide courier service will handle returns.

Have you noticed a service at another library that you'd love to have here? Let us know, and we'll explore the possibilities!

Our dear friend and coworker, Mary, has suffered a heartbreaking loss this week. 💔 Please keep Mary and her children in your thoughts, prayers, and hearts during this incredibly difficult time.

View Bradley Harry Langloss's obituary, send flowers and sign the guestbook.
