Our track stars have returned from state in Yakima and they've brought home podium standings and some well earned hardware.

Elsa Linquist battled through 92-degree heat Thursday in the 1600m, placing 14th in the state with a time of 5:42.45. She rounded out our state trip in the best way possible, fighting her way to a 7th-place finish and a state medal in the 3200m!

Hannah Rupert represented Ilwaco in the Long Jump, placing 15th in the state with a jump of 14’4”.

Our Unified athletes had an incredible meet! Henry Hill, Allie Kary, Rozlynn Nunley, and Blake Eisbrenner earned a 3rd-place finish and a trip to the podium in the Unified 4x100m Relay. Henry and Blake also tied with matching personal-best throws of 19’8.25” in the Unified Shot Put, placing 12th in the state, and later finished 9th in the 100m dash—just .05 seconds shy of a podium finish. Allie and Rozlynn added a 15th-place finish in the Unified 100m dash.

Our boys 4x400m relay (James Hamilton, Thendrix Besin, Micheal Wright, Connor Ryden) finished their season with a personal best of 3:45.53, placing 17th in the state. The girls 4x400m relay (Sunday Zinsli, Rhea Baumann, Elsa Linquist and Hannah Rupert) competed with grit and heart, placing 14th in the state with a time of 4:37.27.

🤖✨ Free Summer Robotics Camp for OBSD Students! ✨🤖

What an incredible opportunity for our Ocean Beach School District students! Robotics camps like this can be very expensive in other areas of the state, but thanks to the Dylan Jude Harrell Community Center and Pacific STEM Robotics, this camp is being offered free of charge for OBSD students.

Students will have the chance to explore coding, LEGO robotics, Python programming, Minecraft engineering challenges, and more. Food and transportation are included.

📍 Grades 6 to 8: July 20 to 24, 2026
📍 Grades 9 to 12: July 27 to 31, 2026
📍 Location: Ocean Park
💙 No cost for OBSD students

Congratulations to our May Students of the Month at Ilwaco High School. These students were nominated and selected by IHS staff in recognition of their hard work, leadership, character, and positive contributions to our school community. Our May Students of the Month are Sunday Zinsli, Elsa Linquist, Angel Perez Garcia, Brent Curry, Isaac Menconi, Madison Key, Lyla Inskeep, and Thendrix Besin (not pictured). We are incredibly proud of each of these students and all they contribute to IHS.

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Chico’s Pizza for generously donating this month’s celebration meal. We truly appreciate the support and partnership in helping us recognize and celebrate our amazing students.
