Our track stars have returned from state in Yakima and they've brought home podium standings and some well earned hardware.
Elsa Linquist battled through 92-degree heat Thursday in the 1600m, placing 14th in the state with a time of 5:42.45. She rounded out our state trip in the best way possible, fighting her way to a 7th-place finish and a state medal in the 3200m!
Hannah Rupert represented Ilwaco in the Long Jump, placing 15th in the state with a jump of 14’4”.
Our Unified athletes had an incredible meet! Henry Hill, Allie Kary, Rozlynn Nunley, and Blake Eisbrenner earned a 3rd-place finish and a trip to the podium in the Unified 4x100m Relay. Henry and Blake also tied with matching personal-best throws of 19’8.25” in the Unified Shot Put, placing 12th in the state, and later finished 9th in the 100m dash—just .05 seconds shy of a podium finish. Allie and Rozlynn added a 15th-place finish in the Unified 100m dash.
Our boys 4x400m relay (James Hamilton, Thendrix Besin, Micheal Wright, Connor Ryden) finished their season with a personal best of 3:45.53, placing 17th in the state. The girls 4x400m relay (Sunday Zinsli, Rhea Baumann, Elsa Linquist and Hannah Rupert) competed with grit and heart, placing 14th in the state with a time of 4:37.27.
