Construction update from Road Commission:

IMLAY CITY ROAD UPDATE between City of Lapeer and Lake Pleasant Road.
Milling operation was completed! Contractor will be placing first lift of asphalt surfacing starting today September 1, 2026 and continue with placement of asphalt throughout the week. Traffic control regulators will be present, expect delays. Schedule is tentative on weather.

🚧 CONSTRUCTION ALERT – IMLAY CITY ROAD - UPDATED! 🚧
The long-anticipated Imlay City Road resurfacing project is starting this week!

📅 Starting Friday, August 28, 2026

🚫 IMLAY CITY ROAD WILL BE UNDER CONSTRUCTION
From Myers Road easterly to Lake Pleasant Road — approximately 6 miles.

⏳ The project is expected to take 4–6 weeks, weather and construction conditions permitting. Traffic Regulators (Flaggers) will be present - EXPECT LONG DELAYS. Please plan ahead OR use alternate routes during construction.

🛣️ What’s Happening? The project will include:
* Milling the existing asphalt pavement
* Two lifts of new asphalt resurfacing
* Aggregate shoulders
* New pavement markings

🔄 To Avoid Long Delays - Alternate Routes include, but are not limited to:
➡️ I-69
➡️ Newark Road

💰 This project is being funded through the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), along with matching funds provided by the Lapeer County Road Commission.

🙏 We know a 6-mile closure will impact a lot of people, but this is a significant investment in Imlay City Road and the future of our county road system. Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and give our construction crews plenty of room to work safely.

We've been made aware of rumors going around that there are FLOCK cameras installed throughout the city. The cameras you see downtown are security cameras that were installed after numerous vandalisms and destruction of properties throughout the years. They are not license plate reading cameras. We hope this shows transparency between the ICPD and city residents. Feel free to reach out if you have questions regarding this matter.

*** Temporary Traffic Control Order for the fair starts tonight ***

The Imlay City Police Department hereby establishes the following temporary Traffic Control Order for the City of Imlay City Michigan:

That there shall be NO parking at the following locations from 12:00 midnight Tuesday, July 27, 2026 until 12:00 midnight August 2, 2026:

• South Almont Ave. from a point 500 feet south of Borland Road on both east and west side of the roadway, northerly to the intersection of East First Street.
• Borland Road will be completely closed to vehicular traffic, local traffic only.
• Borland Road on both the North and South side of the roadway from the intersection of south Van D**e westerly to the intersection of South Almont Avenue.
• Walker Street from the intersection of South Almont Avenue westerly to the end of the street on both the north and south side of the street.
• Cheney Street from the intersection of South Almont Avenue westerly to Melanie Blvd. on both the north and south side of the street.
• Maple Vista Street between Walker Street and Titus Street, both on the east and west side of the roadway.
• Lynn Court both on the north and south sides, entire length of the street.
• Palmer Street both on the north and south sides, from Maple Vista to Almont Avenue.
