Thanks to them, our team received dry suits for full-time lifeguards as well as dry suits and basic equipment for part-time lifeguards. Crucial Personal Protective Equipment for safely working in and around the contaminated waters near the Tijuana River and our coastline.
This equipment helps keep our lifeguards protected, healthy, and ready to serve our community every day.

🌊 Pier Rescue at Sunset 🌊
On Monday evening, just after sunset, our Imperial Beach lifeguards responded quickly after a male jumped from the pier. Our team was on scene within moments, bringing him safely to shore and ensuring he received the care he needed.

A reminder: jumping from the pier is both dangerous and illegal. Please help us keep our beach safe by enjoying the ocean responsibly.

🌊 Strong Rip Currents: Conditions are dangerous – swim near a lifeguard and know how to escape a rip.
⚠️ Inshore Holes: Sudden drop-offs in shallow water can catch even experienced swimmers off guard. Step carefully and supervise children closely.

Heroes in the Making

Last Friday, while lifeguards were going off duty and in the garage cleaning the trucks, two of our Junior Lifeguards, Kylie and Addison, showed just how powerful training, quick thinking, and courage can be. They spotted two kids about to jump off the pier and immediately ran to the station to alert us. Moments later, the kids jumped and quickly became distressed. Without hesitation, Kylie and Addison took action alongside us, helping to ensure a successful rescue.

Their awareness and instinct to step up in a critical moment made all the difference. This is exactly what the Junior Lifeguard program is all about—building the next generation of strong, capable lifeguards who are ready to protect others when it matters most.

Huge shoutout to Kylie and Addison for embodying the lifeguard spirit. You made us all proud!

2024 Summer Program Details:

The 2024 program will be a three-week program M-F 9am-2pm located at Breakers Beach on Naval Air Station North Island. The program will be providing transportation to and from the Imperial Beach Pier Plaza to Breakers Beach via a chartered bus. The cost is $450 for residents and $490 for non-residents. Tuition does not cover the cost of uniforms. Uniforms will be purchased through Original Waterman Brand and shipped directly to you. Cost of the basic uniform package is $100 that includes trunks, shirt rash guard and a hat. There are additional items for sale through the Waterman Brand website with IBJG logos. There will be no Junior Lifeguard program on 4th of July.
