🚶 SEPTEMBER IS PEDESTRIAN SAFETY MONTH 🚶‍♀️

The Imperial Police Department is joining the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) in recognizing September as Pedestrian Safety Month and reminding everyone that roadway safety is a shared responsibility.

Whether you’re walking, driving, or biking, a few simple actions can help prevent serious injuries and save lives:

👀 Drivers: Stay alert and watch for pedestrians, especially near crosswalks, schools, and intersections.

🚶 Pedestrians: Use designated crosswalks whenever possible, stay visible, and make sure drivers see you before crossing.
📵 Stay focused: Avoid distractions while driving or walking near traffic.
🌙 Be visible: When walking at night, wear bright or reflective clothing and use a flashlight when possible.
🚗 Slow down: Reduce your speed in areas with heavy pedestrian traffic and always yield to pedestrians as required by law.

See and Be Seen. Together, we can make Imperial’s streets safer for everyone.

Funding for pedestrian safety programs is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

☀️ SUMMER DUI MOBILIZATION – DRIVE SOBER OR GET PULLED OVER 🚔

The Imperial Police Department is joining law enforcement agencies across California for the OTS Summer DUI Mobilization.

As summer comes to an end and Labor Day approaches, officers will be conducting increased DUI enforcement to help keep impaired drivers off our roads.

🍺 If you drink, don’t drive.
🚗 Plan ahead and designate a sober driver.
📱 Use a rideshare, taxi, or public transportation.
🔑 Never let friends or family drive impaired.
🚨 If you see a suspected impaired driver, call 9-1-1.

A DUI can cost thousands of dollars, result in the loss of your license, and most importantly put lives at risk.

Enjoy the rest of your summer responsibly. Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.
