2026 Chase County Fair & Expo β€” Safety Reminders for the Remainder of the Week

The Chase County Fair & Expo continues through the weekend, with large crowds expected on the fairgrounds each night, with large crowds expected each night, the Imperial Police Department asks fairgoers to keep the following in mind:

Take a photo of your children on your phone as soon as you arrive at the fairgrounds. In the event of separation, a recent photo showing their clothing helps officers locate them quickly.

Establish a designated meeting location with your family in advance in case anyone becomes separated.

Pedestrian and vehicle traffic will be heavy in and around the fairgrounds each night. Motorists are asked to reduce speed and watch closely for pedestrians, including children.

No parking is permitted along the south side of 9th Street, from Broadway Street east to Longhorn, or on the west side of the fairgrounds near the entrance. Please observe all posted No
Parking signs in these areas. Vehicles parked in violation may be subject to citation or towing.

When parking on the fairgrounds, please park within designated spaces only. Do not triple-park or block other vehicles in β€” this creates a safety hazard and prevents other fairgoers from being able to leave.

If you plan to consume alcohol and will be leaving the fairgrounds afterward, please arrange a designated driver in advance.

**For real time notifications in case of an emergency download the City of Imperial App in the Google Play or Apple App Stores.

Officers will be on the fairgrounds throughout the rest week. Thank you for helping us keep the fair safe and enjoyable for everyone.

🚧 ROAD CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Imperial, NE 🚧July 27th, 2027

Starting Today,, Monday, July 27th: Road construction will begin on Broadway Street, from approximately Β½ block south of 5th Street to 8th Street. This is in the heart of our business district, so please expect delays if you're heading downtown. NDOT estimates this project will take approximately 1 day to complete.
We also want to give the community a heads-up on two additional projects:
πŸ”Ή Highway 61 – Work has begun north of town and will continue south through the city limits of Imperial.πŸ”Ή Highway 6 – Construction will begin in town at the Highway 15A junction, heading east toward Enders. Start date has not yet been finalized.
Both of these projects are expected to be completed by the end of September.
Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution in and around all active work zones.
πŸ›‘ Work Zone Safety Reminders:βœ… Slow down – Speed limit fines double in posted work zones.βœ… Put the phone down – Distracted driving is dangerous anywhere, but especially where crews and equipment are close to traffic. Stay off your phone and keep your eyes on the road.βœ… Watch for workers and equipment – Give crews room to work safely.βœ… Expect the unexpected – Lane shifts, flaggers, and sudden stops are common in work zones.βœ… Be patient – A few extra minutes now helps keep everyone safe.
Thank you for your patience as these improvements move forward. We'll keep the community updated as more information becomes available.

🚨 Community Reminder: Mini Bikes Are Not Permitted on City Streets 🚨

We've noticed an increase in mini bikes and small electric dirt bikes being ridden on city streets and public property in Imperial β€” and we want to make sure everyone is aware of the rules.
Under Imperial City Ordinance, it is unlawful to operate a mini bike on any street, highway, or city-owned public land within city limits.
πŸ›΅ What counts as a mini bike? This includes, but is not limited to:

Small gas or electric dirt bikes
Pocket bikes
Pit bikes
Mini motocross bikes
Any two-wheel motor vehicle with tires smaller than 14 inches, a seat height under 25 inches, or an engine under 45cc β€” or any vehicle designed primarily for off-road use

βœ… Exceptions exist for public emergencies and organized parades through recognized community organizations.
We understand these are fun for kids and families, but city streets/sidewalks and public parks are not safe or legal places to ride them. We ask that parents and guardians please talk with your children about where these vehicles can and cannot be operated.
If you have a questions please reach out to us at 308.882.4400
Thank you for helping keep our community safe! πŸ™
