Waypoint Bank: Serving the Imperial Area for More Than a Century

Waypoint Bank has proudly served our area for 109 years. The bank originated in Enders, Nebraska, as First State Bank, where it operated for 90 years. Over time, the institution evolved into First Bank & Trust Company and was later rebranded as Waypoint Bank. Today, Waypoint Bank is headquartered in Cozad, Nebraska, with six branches across Nebraska and two branches in Colorado.

Community involvement remains a cornerstone of Waypoint Bank's mission. The bank actively supports numerous local organizations through financial contributions, volunteer efforts, and sponsorships. Organizations benefiting from this support include Chase County Schools, local American Red Cross blood drives, the Imperial Chamber of Commerce, Imperial Community Center, Imperial Lions Club, Chase County Fair and Expo, Chase County Hospital Foundation, Imperial Police Department, local churches, Imperial Country Club, Enders Lake Golf Course, VFW, Ducks Unlimited, and Pheasants Forever.

Through its long-standing commitment to community service and customer-focused banking, Waypoint Bank continues to play an important role in supporting the growth in Imperial and the surrounding area.

Congratulations, Mel McNea!

Please join us in celebrating Chief Executive Officer of Chase County Community Hospital & Clinics, Mel McNea, on receiving the Outstanding Rural Health Achievement Award from the Nebraska Rural Health Association.

Since stepping into the Interim CEO role in August 2025, Mel has made a meaningful and immediate impact on our organization and the communities we serve. He is a true go-getter who continually challenges all of us to raise the bar, think differently, and push ourselves β€” always with the goal of strengthening rural healthcare.

At the heart of every decision Mel makes is a commitment to our patients and ensuring quality healthcare remains available close to home. He approaches every challenge with determination, creativity, and optimism, always finding a way forward and inspiring those around him to do the same.

This recognition is well deserved, and from the bottom of our hearts here at Chase County Community Hospital and Clinics, we are grateful for his leadership, vision, and dedication to rural healthcare. Who's excited to see them back on stage? πŸ™Œ

THE TALBOTT BROTHERS ARE RETURNING TO SMOKIN' ON BROADWAY!

As we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Smokin' on Broadway, it only feels right to welcome back a group that has been part of this event's story over the years.

Hailing from right here in Imperial, Nebraska, the Talbott Brothers have grown from local favorites to nationally recognized artists while staying true to their hometown roots. They've taken the Smokin' on Broadway stage several times through the years, and we're thrilled to have them back for this special anniversary celebration.

This year may look a little different as we move the event "In the Park," but one thing remains the same-great music, great friends, and a great community coming together for a summer night to remember.

Mark your calendars for June 27 and get ready for an unforgettable evening at Campbell Park. Bring your lawn chairs, bring your friends, and get ready to sing along with one of Imperial's own.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be shining a spotlight on our local finance and insurance businesses. Keep your eyes peeled for the friends and neighbors who are bringing trusted service, great options, and local support to our community. We're proud to celebrate the businesses that help our community thrive!

Our first business is State Farm. πŸ‘€β€΅

Linda Maiden is a lifelong Southwest Nebraskan who has been with State Farm for more than 51 years, including 37 years as an agent. She took over the Imperial office in 2018 and enjoys helping people in the community find insurance coverage that fits their needs.

Her office offers auto, home, life, renters, condo, and farm insurance. They are proud supporters of the Imperial community, participating in the Imperial Parade, delivering atlases to fourth graders and beach balls to the pool each summer, and sponsoring many local events, including the Chase County Hospital Foundation's Golf Tournament, Post Prom, and the school yearbook. They are also proud members of the Chamber.

Over the years, they relocated from 611 Broadway to their current office at 501 Broadway and have enjoyed getting to know and serving many new customers. Outside the office, Linda enjoys traveling, volunteering, and spending time with my family. She is blessed with six children and eleven grandchildren, and family remains at the center of everything I do.

Thank you, Linda and State Farm, for bringing options to our community and for your support of so many local organizations and events!
