DRINK TAHOE TAP The Tahoe Water Suppliers Assocation members encourage you to DRINK TAHOE TAP! The source of drinking water for many Tahoe Basin communities is Lake Tahoe.

The water in Lake Tahoe is of excellent quality, and treatment plants are designed to remove or inactivate microorganisms. Tahoe Water Suppliers Association purveyors (members) provide some of the finest drinking water in the world to your home or business, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, for less than a penny per gallon! So whether you are a local or someone visiting our region, we urge you to

kick the bottled water habit and drink from the tap. Municipal water systems are more rigorously tested and monitored than the bottled water industry. You can help by choosing tap water over bottled water whenever possible and supporting increased federal funding for safe and affordable public tap water. Tap water is better than bottled water when it comes to people’s health, wallets and the environment. Everyone can help protect the quality of our drinking water through simple sanitary practices; such as properly disposing of waste (including dog waste) and by following best management practices (BMPs). However, emerging contaminants and increases in contaminants quantities often increases the threat of waterborne illness and creates requirements for new and expensive treatment upgrades.
