A Letter from Indra Winquest
Interim District General Manager
Dear Incline & Crystal Bay Community Members –
First, on behalf of IVGID, I want to thank the community for your understanding, cooperation, and support as we realize this has been a very anxious and challenging time. It certainly has been for the IVGID team as well. We miss all of interactions with the community at our venues just as much as all of you miss the slopes at DP, the daily workout, basketball game, swim at the recreation center, and all of our community services and programs.
I understand, support and urge that people need to get fresh air and spend a little time outside, within reason, during this difficult time.
Unfortunately, this past couple weeks, large amounts of people are still gathering at all Incline parks and beaches. This is concerning to me. Our community is way too valuable to continue this risky behavior. The sooner everyone understands this, the sooner we get back to normal life. This being said, we do understand some of these folks are visitors.
We want to allow some level of access to our parks and beaches, however we cannot keep these facilities as accessible if some of this irresponsible behavior continues. Please enjoy some fresh air and go run around the park with your family, stroll through the beach etc…but practice social/physical distancing and although tempting, do not gather in groups. IVGID does not have the fiscal resources currently to staff the outdoor venues any more than we currently have, nor do we want to risk the health and safety of our staff.
Dogs are part of life in a big way here in the community, and Village Green has been a busy place so please use the parks responsibly. As a reminder, dogs are only allowed at Ski Beach until April 15th. It’s important that folks understand this and do not bring dogs to Incline or Burnt Cedar.
IVGID will be working closely with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department to ensure that behavior is being monitored and both the federal and state orders are being followed. It’s important that we do not burden our safety agencies as they have an extreme amount of challenges that they are already facing.
Lastly, it’s important to understand that this is not the right time to be inviting guests from outside of the community to join you at the venues. During this time, the outdoor venues should only be for use by our residents. Our community does not have the support resources and facilities to manage an outbreak of COVID-19. IVGID continues to support the mission of Stay Home & Stay Healthy!!
In order to protect the wellbeing of our community and in compliance with state and federal directives, the following actions are effective immediately at our beaches and parks:
• Beach access is restricted to IVGID Picture Pass Holders
only
• Incline and Burnt Cedar Beaches parking lots are closed
• Walk-in access only for all beaches
• Ski Beach remains dog friendly until April 15
• Dogs are not allowed on Incline or Burnt Cedar Beach
• Maintain social/physical distancing of 6 feet
• No gatherings of 10 people or more (Nevada Declaration
Emergency, directive 007)
We are truly dedicated to the overall health & safety of the community. We also feel it’s important that everyone stays healthy both body and mind! IVGID is committed to providing safe and responsible opportunities to recreate outdoors within the parameters ordered by both federal and state levels.
We are respectfully, but firmly asking for your compliance and cooperation, otherwise, we will have no choice but to close all outdoor venues until
further notice.
Healthfully yours,
Indra Winquest
