Community Services League offices will be closed September 4–7 in observance of Labor Day weekend.

We’re grateful to be part of such a caring and connected community, and we hope our neighbors, staff, volunteers, and community partners have a safe and restful holiday weekend.

Our offices will reopen on Tuesday, September 8th.

Thankful Thursday

Earlier this year, we were grateful to welcome the Liberty Mutual Insurance team to Community Services League for their “Serve with Liberty” Day!

Their team rolled up their sleeves, gave their time, and helped support the work happening right here in our community. We are incredibly thankful for businesses that encourage their employees to step outside the office and make a difference for their neighbors.

Community Services League recently had the opportunity to join MyKC Live to reflect on 110 years of serving our community and, more importantly, to talk about the work that continues today.

CSL President & CEO Doug Cowan sat down with Shane and Kerrigan to share more about our mission, the needs facing families across our community, and the many ways people can come alongside CSL to make a difference.

For 110 years, CSL has been here because of a community that believes in showing up for one another—and we’re incredibly grateful to continue that work together.

Community Services League is partnering with Graceland University School of Nursing, West Central MAHEC, and MHCA to offer a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Hybrid Course beginning Fall 2026.

Through CSL's Workforce Development program, you'll receive support every step of the way—from training and barrier removal to career preparation. The program includes online coursework, hands-on training, clinicals, and preparation for the Missouri CNA Certification Exam.

As we wrap up our Back to School Fair thank you's, we have one more very special shoutout to share!

Community Services League is incredibly grateful to Comcast, our Presenting Sponsor, for helping make this year’s Back-to-School Fair possible. Their support, along with the generosity of so many businesses, organizations, volunteers, and community partners, helped provide students with the supplies and shoes they needed to start the school year ready and confident.

At the end of the fair, families had the opportunity to write thank-you notes to the people and organizations who gave so much to make the event happen. We think their words say it best.

To Comcast and every person who donated, volunteered, partnered, or supported this year’s fair—thank you for showing up for our students and families! What an incredible community we get to call home.

Community Services League would like to extend another big thank this week, this time to Costco who generously donated hundreds of back packs to our Back to School Fair. Because of incredible community partners like Costco children in our area were able to start the school year with the necessities they need for success! Thank you Costco!
