Out of everything we do, volunteering to introduce youth to aviation is by far the favorite. Today we were at Independence Airport with helping with a “Young Eagles” event. 11 pilots & 40 volunteers safely got 51 kids up in the air this morning to experience the joy of flight.

Wow, what a way to end the weekend! Not only did the STOL Expo go without a hitch, but we also got to work with Juan Brown of YouTube’s “blancolirio channel” fame. Juan crushed it as the STOL Expo announcer and was a really cool dude to meet in person. Can’t wait for next year!!!!!

So this happened today at KMMV! Not only did we get some great training on how to rescue the aircrew of an AH-64 Apache, but we also learned how to fire the 30mm Chain Gun!

It's hard to read this, but very easy to forget or worse yet forgo regular checks and maintenance on safety equipment. Fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and AED's can hang on a wall for years without being needed. Many just assume that they'll work when needed, and even worse, some see them as "wasted money because we've NEVER had an emergency".

Right until you do...

Please, please, please, stop what you're doing right now. At home or at work. Go and check your fire extinguishers, first aid kits, & if you have them AED's. Make sure they are "ready to go". All AED's will have a self-test indicator that either blinks a green light or has an "OK" display. Check the battery, it will either have a charge level display or "End of service life" date on the pack. Finally, check the expiration dates on the pads. There will be an empty hourglass icon with the date next to it. Not sure how to check these items? No problem. Air Safety Northwest offers FREE safety checks or over the phone advice on any of these items and more. We can also assist you with annual inspections & replacement parts.
