Link is a 3 year old mixed-breed pup with a gentle spirit and a love for the simple things in life. Link gets along well with other dogs and has a calm, easygoing personality that makes him a comforting companion.

Introducing Zoey!

At 4 years old, Zoey has perfected the art of being equal parts snuggly, playful, and a total goofball as the Animal Services office dog.

But Zoey's story didn't start here.
Through no fault of her own, Zoey has experienced things no dog should ever have to endure. Despite a difficult beginning, Zoey has chosen trust, love, and embraces every good thing life has to offer.

Now all that's missing is a family of her own.

City offices (including the shelter) will be closed today in honor of Juneteenth. If there is an animal emergency, please call 911 and ask to be connected with an animal services officer.
The shelter will re-open for normal business hours on Saturday at 10 am.

This past weekend, the Independence Animal Services Veterinary Clinic was proud to partner with Spay & Neuter Collaborative of Kansas City to provide spay and neuter services for our community. Together, we successfully altered 14 dogs and 14 cats belonging to Independence residents; helping pets live healthier lives while reducing pet overpopulation in our community. 🐾

We would also like to give a very special thank you to all of the volunteers who donated their time, energy, and hard work throughout the weekend. From check-in and surgery prep to patient care and recovery and everything in between, your dedication helped make this event a success. We simply could not have done it without you. ❤️
