Congratulations to the GCHS Marching Band on their performance yesterday on the Chilhowie Apple Festival. Due to weather there was no awards ceremony. Placements were given via email and are as following:

1st place Music
1st place Marching
1st place General effect
1st place Percussion
1st place Color guard
1st place Drum Major
1st place Overall Class 1A

We will hold our first Booster meeting of the year tonight at 6pm in the band room. All band parents are welcome and encouraged to attend as we will further discuss fundraising, concession stand start up, and other necessary topics regarding the season.

We will have a parent and student meeting this Friday after Band Camp for all marching band parents in the band room at 5:45pm. All parents are highly encouraged to attended as we will be discussing our plans for a future band trip and fundraising.

Grayson County High School Band Camp will begin Monday, July 28th and run to Friday, August 1st from 9am to 5pm. This is required of all 8th-12th grade marching band students. All students will be fed lunch.

Please bring sunscreen and tennis shoes.

Come out tomorrow night at 7pm to hear the Grayson County Bands Spring Concert at the GCHS Auditorium. Students from Grayson Highlands, Independence Middle School, Grayson County High School, and a guest performance from The University of Virginia’s College at Wise Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble “The Wise Guys” will perform.

The guard competed at Freedom Hall in Johnson City.
We are so unbelievably proud of all the hard work they have put into the season!

Grayson County High School Band has 4 students who will represent the school at the All-District, district 7, band event this Friday and Saturday based off of their auditions in December.

Senior - Josh Blevins: Clarinet, senior concert chair 3

Sophomore - Slade McGrady: Tuba, senior concert chair 1

Freshman - Adeline Cannon: Clarinet, senior concert chair 14

8th grader - Madalyn Jones: Clarinet, junior Symphonic chair 22

The concert will begin at 4pm this Saturday Feb. 1st at 4pm at the Higher Education Center in Abingdon.
