Just a little Thursday reminder that you don’t have to travel far to find something pretty special right here in Independence!

The Bingham-Waggoner Mansion has been part of our community for generations, and we love sharing it with folks who walk through our doors.

So, when was the last time you actually stopped in for a tour? And driving past doesn’t count! 😉

We’re open today from 10–3. Come see us!

Independence, this is an important one….

There’s been a lot of talk about the upcoming GO Bond, and we’re glad to see KSHB 41 taking a closer look and what it could mean for five of Independence’s historic landmarks including our beloved Bingham-Waggoner Mansion.

We’re especially glad to see our own Mark R. Mangels Vice President of the Bingham-Waggoner Historical Society, sharing why these repairs are so important and why restoring historic buildings isn’t quite as simple as fixing up an old house.

On November 3, Independence voters will have an opportunity to help shape the future of these historic treasures.

Take a few minutes to watch the video, learn what’s at stake, and make an informed decision.

A big thank-you to KSHB 41 for helping tell this important story!

Property taxes aren't a popular topic in Jackson County, but Independence hopes its residents will dig into their pocketbooks to preserve some of the city's historic landmarks.

Would You Rather Wednesday — Mansion Edition.

Let’s have a little fun with “Would You Rather” !
You’ve got to pick one from each pair. No picking both! 😉

🛏️ A big fancy Victorian bedroom OR a cozy little room tucked away upstairs?

🎹 Piano music in the parlor OR dancing at a fancy ball?

🍰 Dessert served on fine china OR sneaking a treat from the kitchen?

🧹 Own the Mansion OR work there and know everybody’s business? 😂

⏳ Spend a day at the Bingham in the 1800s OR bring someone from the 1800s to see it today?

Let’s hear your picks! I’m thinking that fourth question might get some interesting answers!
And, GO……..

Fence Repair Update….

A few weeks ago, a vehicle drove through a section of our fence at the Bingham-Waggoner Mansion & Estate.

We’re happy to share that the City has collected all of the damaged fence pieces and is now working toward getting the fence repaired!

We appreciate everyone’s patience and concern and will keep you updated as progress continues. We look forward to seeing our beautiful historic fence restored!
